Any one running a newer GM?

I’m about ready to go get me another truck. The Dodge I had was a 2000 and didn’t notice a problem with the electronics. Still weighing the pros and cons of a new GM. 16 pill will be the biggest it ever sees. Yes the dedicated alternator will be migrated over. So any problems with...

    grounding info

In communications sites all equipment chassis goes back to a single ground bus bar. As said above no daisy chaining, meaning 1 wire from main ground to a radio, then a wire from the radio to an amp and so on. All home runs to the main ground buss. For antennas it depends on where you live and...

    Drive around antennas

Here is a link to check out the 4 antenna set up. www.comteksystems.com/ It is intended for base operation, but for 10/11 meters should work mobile. I'm in the process of looking for some one to build a custom ladder rack (that's what I tell my accountant) with flat surfaces to...

    Need new power SWR meter

I use the VFD, it has a sensor that goes in line and a cable that goes to the meter. www.arraysolutions.com/Products/VFD.htm Check out EHAM.net for reviews on it and other meters. I took my setup to Bill Good's shop (SK) and he wanted to compare it with his bird 43. No difference...

    RCA 2-Way radio ?

Go searching around yahoo user groups. Yahoo seems to have some sort of usergroup out there for just about anything. Join the RCA group, if there is one and ask there. I joined the GE group and got drawings for my GE radio.

What truck to stay away from?

"PS....Maybe that 2001 Ram is a gas hog 'cause it's running that locomotive alternator!" You know...... It has that Dodge computer in it that tells you your mileage, and after I put the alternator on it the average mileage dropped by .5 MPG. I took it out 2 weeks ago to get ready to get rid...

What truck to stay away from?

Well it is time for Skip to get a new vehicle. Looking for feedback on any truck that has known excessive noise problems or doesn’t respond well to lots of RF. Right now I have a 2001 Dodge RAM, but it is a gas hog. I use all bands available and an 8-pill on HF. Plan on transferring my...

Cheap Export radio that is good on SSB.

Thanks for the info. I've never owned a export radio but the 3900 sounds cheap enough. My 1st attempt will be to attach a 902 Mhz transverter right to it.

Cheap Export radio that is good on SSB.

I’m looking for a cheap, easy to work on, Export radio with SSB & FM. I’m going to use it as an IF for a transverter so I don’t care about power out. No other bells and whistles; schematics and drawings readily available will be a big plus.
