If it was me. i would do a master reset on the radio and clear out all the settings and memories before i would do any trouble shooting.

My vx-6r transmits great on the air band.. a friend that is a pilot used it a while back as a backup when the radio went out during a flight.

sb-200 if i remember correctly had 811a/572b in them. If you had a tube checker that will do 812 tubes it should work as the 812 are a low output version of the 811. Rich
