I called a shop over towards Memphis TN yesterday to ask what he gets for the Connex 3300HP. He gets $338 for peak and tune, convert, and upgraded talkback! Don't get me wrong, he's a great tech (he's done some work for me a couple yrs ago) but he's so high.
I agree and disagree. Galaxy's are decent on Sideband. Buddy of mine has a 99 and 2517 and both are tight on sideband. BUT I have to say when they get off, they're off! My tech (darn good one) spent 10 mins adjusting the pots and he still didn't get it set. But I've heard of Galaxy's being...
Ok man. I didn't mean to sound like a smart a** a few hours ago. That guy must had been running a aftermarket plug or something. There's a ton of radios out there. I was looking at a Galaxy 99 but they're so hard to find (good ones). I really want a radio with SSB, upper and lower channels...
Dude, I run a 2 pill Fatboy as a base and theres NO way itll pull 40 amps. About 30 amps max. Sure it might pull 40 if you drive 9 watts DK into it. And who does that? Plus the guy who told me this does installs on cars and big trucks so he should know what will work and what won't.. His dad has...
Thanks for the reply. I know a guy that works at my local CB shop and he said he's seen a cigarette lighter plug run a 2 pill Fatboy just fine. But I'm alittle scared. I hate to spend $400 and it not run it. Kind of like a shot in the dark. I probably need to go with the Stryker 490 since it's...
Here's what the Exit 163 CB Shop on 1-40 in Dickson,TN told me. The tech said "every watt draws a amp". I said so my Cobra 29 draws 27 amps and my 2 pill Fatboy draws 400 amps?! I just laughed!
People say "Nehhh the FCC don't give a rip about the CB band". Yeah they do too! Probably not as much like back in the 70's. It only takes 30 watts to get a big fine. Not a good idea to key up near a cop car, police station, fire department, hospital. I was talking to a guy at the CB Shop a few...
I know both are similar as far as statistics go. Which is better? I talk mostly local, skip every once in a while. I plan on using a 40' push up pole. I currently run a IMAX. Never owned or operated a beam. I've been in radios for a while now. A beam, I'm totally new to them. So bear with me as...
Which ground wave really gives you the best results? I wanna talk 100-150 miles away from me on a quiet night. I might talk skip occasionally. I'm leaning towards the Sirio 2016, seems like the more I study about it, the more I like it. I've always heard aluminum has less noise than fiberglass...
Hey fellow CB'ers. I'm having trouble picking the right antenna for me. There's just too many out there to choose from. I currently run a IMAX 2000. I live in right smack dab in the middle of town. The businesses and buildings pinch my hearing really bad and I ALWAYS run atleast 2 pounds of line...
I know a guy who runs one as a base. The darn thing broadcasts! Great radio from what I hear. Great receive. If you drive a truck and the company won't let you run alot of wires and coax. This radio is ideal. But if you plan on putting it into a pickup, I'd reccomend a smaller radio and good...
We possibly may be moving in a month or two. So I want to start with a fresh antenna. I currently run a Imax 2000 on a 30ft push up pole. Some people say "you can never get high enough" some people say 1st ground wave is best. Probably the Maco 3 element beam will be my next antenna. Should I...
