Ok, so I posted on this radio before. I changed the final out with a new one. Radio worked for about 3 months. Now it has no audio but normal carrier. I tested it in PA mode with a speaker connected and nothing there either. I'm thinking the audio chip maybe? I tested the mic with my other 29...
Just a side note. The Robyn meters are a bit goofy. One is stuck (left) and the one on the right does not bottom out all the way but swings with modulation.
I have a few different items for sale. I will try to describe them to the best of my knowledge. I am not a radio tech and I do not try to be either. Everything listed is as honest as I can possibly describe.
First up is a working Robyn SB-520D. Radio works great as far as I can tell. I have...
It does 5 watts, swings close to 6. I am using an old Motorola swr/power meter that seems to give accurate readings. Its only settings are 10w/100w and swr. Its probably from the 70's and has seen its use....but it does its job.
I guess I'll search for a sc2078 final. Should I leave the c2314...
Ok, so I got this radio (dead) and changed the final to a c2166. I also changed C71 to a 33uf 25v. electrolytic capicitor. I tried to adjust L17, L20, L21, L16, and L14 for max RF output, but there is no slug inside L16....it's just hollow. Looks like the stock driver is a c2314. Could this...
Thanks guys. I found the problem....turns out the Dynamic knob was gummed up inside. Sprayed a little contact cleaner in it and she's back to transmitting....WITH audio!
I picked up this Cobra 29LTD classic (mfg. date 04') for free. It had no transmit when I got it so I replaced the stock final (c2076) with a working one from a 29+ (c2166). It will now transmit but there is no audio. I have tried 3 different mics and mic plugs.
Is there something else I can...
ARF-2001
Yes, I used to have one. I acquired it at a bad time. It was in good shape but had transmit problems. I did not have the money to have it repaired. I ended up selling it on ebay. The cool thing about these radios were that they had them cool color changing switches. I wish that I...
Hello, I have a Emperor 5010 that I hooked up the power wires to backwards by accident. I replaced the diode D173 (witch was blown apart) and it still don't seem to be transmitting.
Any suggestions?

some help is better than none.....
Well, that's more than I knew about it when I posted it. The 28VDC hookup also had me stumped. Most of the stuff I had was 2-way and CB related. There was nothing 'Simpson' in the lot I bought. Mostly it was all Regency, Standard, Midland, and Motorola for...
Hello to all. I have been searching with no luck to try and figure out what this is. I got it from a estate sale. The guy was a Motorola tech and I bought all of his radio items. Most of it is gone, what I have left I am keeping. But this one remains a stumper. The Motorola website was no help...
