Hi Doc!
Yep, I love my Matchbox. However, you have a point, the tuning range is limited, and it doesn't work on all of the WARC bands or 160 meters. It is a big, heavy duty duty piece of equipment, though.
I'm going to have to save my pennies up and get one of those Palstar balanced line...
Hi Loosecannon!
"hey AC5CH!!!!"
Hi Loosecannon - Good to hear from you!
"glad to hear someone else has heard of the black salve!!!"
Likewise, sir!
"we call it the black stuff, and my wife's mother, a licensed reflexologist, and herbologist, has been using this stuff for over 20...
Re Mackmobile33
Hi Mackmobile33,
"Did you consider the possibility that your skin cancer was mis-diagnosed as such?"
Actually I did when my family doctor told me I had an especially bad spot on my back. Then, he sent me to a specialist who took a biopsy and told me it was melanoma. He...
Nope, black salve is a generic term. Bunches of companies make it, and you can even make it yourself from directions on the web.
I don't own interest in any company making it, and did not mention a brand name - just my personal experience with it...
Thanks for the links!
That was some interesting information.
I've personally knocked out several forms of skin cancer with a substance called "Black Salve." One of the local surgeons wanted around 11 grand to cut a malignancy off my back, and I did it myself for about $5.00 using that stuff...
Hi Bit Pit,
No problem - I'm happy to just find some pre-made PC boards! I'll definitely keep you in mind when I get the boards in.
I built a super efficient refrigerator out of a chest freezer based on some
plans and a thermostat kit I bought from a fellow who lives in your country. He...
Saving radios from becoming parts radios is usually a lot of fun - especially when they are high quality ones.
For example, I just finished restoring (new electrolytic capacitors, Schottky diodes, 2SC2999, new 1306 driver and 1307 final, etc.) a "parts bin" Cobra 138 23 channel SSB a...
Hi 190,
Yep, that is definitely a nasty hole - The radio will look a lot better with the new (to me) cover. I'll have to give armour all a try. I've used a small amount of baby oil on a cotton cloth to shine up vinyl-clad covers in the past....
Thanks for the well-wish on the project...
Here are pictures of the transceiver as it is tonight. I'll post a new set when I get all of the cosmetics fixed.
Thanks go out to "190" for the upper cover, power cord and microphone! Helpful CBers like him make CBing a pleasure!
All of the defective and missing electronic parts have...
Thanks Bit Pit!
I really appreciate your letting me know where to get the 80-11 meter transverter boards. I figured that I wasn't the only person to have thought of such a project, and I was correct!
You know, I might even rig one up to work with with my Uniden Grant LT. That would certainly...
Thanks Switch Kit!
I like those Galaxy N kits, too. Much, much, much better than the Expo 100 N kits as I couldn't get the clarifiers to work properly with them at all.
Thanks for the pointer on how to get the lower frequencies! I'll have to give that a try , sometimes.
According to some...
Wow - if that is a microscope, I'd love to have one like it! Trying to solder the smt stuff on the new transceivers (IHFR 2500 stuff) can be a real pain without one...
Thanks for the responses! I'll do so some research on the possibilities of making a transverter for the radio. I'm mainly interested in putting a Cobra 29 on the air on 75 meters just for the sake of doing it as I like pursuing unique and strange projects.
I did convert an old 23 channel Cobra...
Here is a revised frequency/channel chart for radios that have the Galaxy N Kit in them. I've eliminated the repetitive frequencies in an effort to make the set-up easier to use, and figured that some of you guys might find it handy.
The Galaxy N Kit is used in the PC 122/122XL, TRC 465, Pro...
Has anyone here ever successfully modified a CB to operate on 75 meters? It seems that this would be a good project for those who want to run decent AM on that band. In particular, I'm interested in converting a Cobra 29. I've got both versions - PLL and crystal-plexer...
When I was a kid, I...
