    Need a cure for NS-9000

ExitThirteen, I apologize for opening an old thread. But I have had a lot of health problems since I started this. Lost a kidney to cancer and fighting depression because of it. But I have not done this mod yet and have a couple of questions about it. #1, where I remove the diode and the...

    10 turn Clarifier Pot

Hey all, Does anyone know where I can purchase a 10 turn pot for the clarifier in my cobra 148gtl, side mount mic? I have found all kinds of them, but would like a splined shaft so I can keep the original knob. I know it is 20k pot, but everything I find is either smooth shaft or flat on...

Almost Afraid to undue the screws

Hello all, I know you probably can't help without more info. But I haven't been home long enough to have a chance to look at this. It is my Northstar NS-4000, and the other day I started the truck and the channel lights started flickering and then all the lights on the radio started...

    Texas Star DX350

This amp does not work, and I need some suggestions. Both transistors Q1 and Q2, 2n4125 and 2n4126 have been changed out with generic pnp switching transistors. Question 1, do they need to be original numbered transistors? Question 2, where would the best place to buy them, Jameco carries one...

    Need a cure for NS-9000

Does anyone know the steps to marry the fine to do xmit and rec. Mine only does rec. with the fine, the coarse will do both. If I can marry the two it will solve my problem of trying to just get to the edge of the detent. The fine has no detent and would allow me to make the small adjustment...

    Need a cure for NS-9000

I will probably just leave it alone. I just wish the clarifier did not have the detent, if it was smooth turning I would have no problems. But when I get it to where it needs to be, it wants to drop into the detent and then it is off again. Thanks for all the replies.

    Need a cure for NS-9000

I want to thank everyone for the replies. I have had this radio since about 2001, I bought it new then. I guess it probably needs an alignment, just nobody local to me that I know of to do this. When the coarse adjustment is in the detent, it shows a little off frequency by my 7 digit in line...

    Need a cure for NS-9000

Thank you, the radio works fine if I can keep it from slipping back into the "ditch" of the detent. Why they would design the clarifier with a detent in it is beyond me. It would work better as a vfo if it had no detent to fall into. Is there a way to unlock the fine adjustment to work on both...

    Need a cure for NS-9000

Hello everybody I have a Northstar ns-9000, and the coarse clarifier has a detent in the middle of its range of movement. I am fighting trying to get someone on frequency, it seems it needs to be right on the edge of the detent and does not want to stay there. Is there a way to cure this? The...
