i have had mine up for a good while and have not had a ounce of trouble
it took me longer to get it out the box and unwrapped than it did putting it together
then once...
Just because a radio has a ssb knob does not mean that it can function properly on ssb
and another dead ringer giveaway is :
if the radio has a roger beep or echo its not a true ssb radio

Someone was looking out for me
the Motorola guy from midland is coming up in a few days to check out the tower site
going to be using 2 runs of 7/8 hardline
250 foot a run
one coax will be for the 900 repeater in the West Texas area
and the othr run will be for the GMRS
one antenna will...
we are fixing to set up a 900 repeater not sure of the exact freq
what would be a good choice of a HT and a good choice of a mobile radio
both could be just monoband
or hit me up with other options
going up on a 400 foot tower
if rag chewwing is what you want then get a dual bander and get on a local repeater and get after it
or get on the southwest link
i would not suggest getting a HF rig and getting on a skip talking freq then want to talk local

if you had a tool box
you could mount a Predator 10k with a 21 inch shaft then put the flatside kit on
now its not a true flatside
it is vertically polarized so its still a vertical
or you can just get the coil and top section and flatside kit and then measue from the top of garage to top...
even a multiband antenna is not a very good antenna
all your doing is using the harmonics for each band
monoband antenna would be the best
but alot of folks dont have room for a antenna at each band
pretty sure it wont tune the antenna
take the radio then into the tuner then into a swr meter then to the antenna
then hit auto tune and see if the swr changes on the meter
what upsets me the most is when one guy is off freq and then another guy tunes in on him to talk to him then we have 2 people off freq and its a big mess then for everyone else
and then it keeps getting worse an worse as the day goes on
so leave the transmit freq alone
I dont use murs but i have a gmrs repeater on a tower about 70 foot
talks about 30 to 35 miles
depends if i have the 10 watt repeater inline or if i pull it and turn the Super Repeater on
then it really get after it
my old spectra is full of the frs and gmrs and murs
and its set at 40...
