I have one in my collection of (48) D-104's but I have never used it with the Bells & Whistles which I would never use. I did not know it was that model when I purchased it since someone put a regular amplified base cover on it. I only use it like a standard amplified D-104.

Are these the DXA or SDX versions? I used an 800SDX for 23 years with no issues & I now have the 800DXA with no issues. I have never heard of this issue so it's news to me. The only difference is the models I have owned have the memories & the regular 800's do not.

6 METERS has been WIDE OPEN all day here in EM80 across North America. Lots of PHONE QSO's Today 5/28/25 & it is great hearing VOICES & not a bunch of Digital Signals.

But you must decide what are Human Lives worth? A Baofeng would be my last choice. I have an ICOM ID-51a+2 that I depend on. I have more confidence in my Old ICOM O2AT or Radio Shack HTX-202 than a Baofeng.
