I think the downfall of the world is due to Americans and their throw away mentality. Let's put the cheapest POS parts we can make work into something that could easily last another 100 years if we actual repaired it properly and maintained it!
Have you considered using HG 2SC1969's or a matched pair of MRF475?
That is a nice radio to put cheap garbage parts in! It's like putting a Briggs & Straton engine in a C5 Corvette! LOL
It is worth putting a two decent bipolars in.
In fact I had one radio my favorite at the time that had multiple failures.
As the radio would heat up the main voltage regulator was allowing double the current to flow into the radio. The next voltage regulator looked fine but when I removed it to test it, it was already craked and the corner...
Not likely to be from the mod.
I would suspect a part is bad or going bad. I have had voltage regulators going bad that had not yet failed cause this. I have had crystal filter go bad on one radio cause this. I had a cap go bad on VFO caused this.
My point is that a lot of things can cause...
I downloaded the manual and service manual. I did not think to look in that. Still waiting for unit to arrive. I have no idea if it is a new unit, previously owned, or what is in the box outside of the unit and a mic.
I will try to search those manuals before posting a question about it...
Used mom's SS sink and kitchen oven to rebuild carburators and cylinder heads. Kitchen table with a chunk of plywood protecting it.
I made sure I was done before she got home. Kitchen was spotless but smelled like burnt oil and solvents. Took 2 weeks for the kitchen to smell right!
My mother...
I build mine normaly like I build any work bench. If light weight 2x4's and 1/2 in plywood. If heavy duty 4x4's and 3/4 inch plywood. Locking casters on the bottom so I can rool it around. Lag bolts and 16p nails. The one in my garage was built in 1998 and has a vice at one end, grinder/wire...
First and formost! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
I would like to ask your age. Do you mind that? I am trying to get a feel for anyone new that is intersted in CW/Code!
Finished my end feed antenna for this radio. Works fine on the G90 so should work on the Icom!
Now I need good weather and my wife to hold the ladder! Still waiting for my new radio to arrive!
Now I need to get off my but this winter and try to put together a nice tube amp for it. Finding...
I have been looking for years because I had 20+ NOS Tubes they are 150's not 250's but still compatable.
I have been looking for over 10 years and never see one for sale. Not like these are remarkable amps not like a 350Z or a 511 or better! They used to be common and cheap and I have not seen...
So I am switching my G90 for an ICOM 7410. I am wondering how the tuner compares. I am sure my G90 could tune my car body or garage door.
How does the ICOM 7410 tuner compare?
So I want to add antennas to a new part of my property seperate from other antenna and radio room. The radio is a ICOM 7410.
I want to use it in my living room with different antennas from those in the radio room on the back side of the house.
Can I hook multiple antennas to the feed line...
Fans are cheap. You do not need random bracket hanging off the radio. Screws expand rubber. You just use rubber chunks in the sinks to mout fans.
If mounted in a base setting any off the shelf walmart fan turned down low and aimed through the sinks will move more air. If installed on dash...
Yes if it is the Archer Bow Antenna?
Worked as well as an Antron-99.
I helped a friend install one when I was in college.
It worked really well for us. The only problem we had was getting it to read a low SWR.
People talk all the time about coax length and swr. When I would test it with my...
PW-1 is a solid amp that should be lots of fun.
At some point I will need to build or purchase a more power amp myself.
I always wanted a JRC JRL-3000 amplifier. I had the chance to purchase one new and the money 1992-1993 but then I went off to college and figured I would get one when I was...
I love CB but absolutely hate the modern human trash that is often on CB today.
I do not care if your rich, poor, in the middle, have 12 degree from MIT or had to drop out of high school to help support your family. I do not care what color your skin is! I do not care if you live in a tent or...
