It's a damn shame. Like you say I get amazing audio reports. That's the only reason I keep using it now. But something's definitely not right. Well. I'll post here whatever I hear from Icom.
Thank you! Now I can assume it's not my radio. That's exactly the same issue I have. Nobody else can hear it on the other end of the conversation. But it Chatters back and forth like a relay or something. I sent a query about it to Icom yesterday. We'll see what happens when they get back to me...
I just realized I've been replying on the wrong thread. Here's where I went after the last post here.

Wide open between pin 5 and pin 6. Power or mic game make no difference. The microphone works, and I'm using it. The action of the switch throw is what is causing the noise inside the radio. That noise stops when the microphone fully keyed. The point between receive and fully keyed is where the...
Okay. Here's some Hardware info.. the screw that holds the mic element housing together is 5/32 8-32 thread by 1 inch. I'm replacing mine cuz the drill bit hit it. I didn't realize the disc was so thin and easy to drill through. I'm going to reuse the disk I have with the hole drilled in it...
I have no input on what the problem might be, but if you want to onesie twosie parts, you can do that at digikey. Oh and also, just a heads up. If you're going to replace that mic element I might have a stock one soon. It might be the same as a sidekick 100.? I'm going to do the electret...
The problem has to be the mic switch. It seems like to me. All other microphones work fine. I was just curious if this was an issue for anyone else with the same microphone.
Yeah. I agree with SP5IT Start with your antenna. That's going to be the hard part for you most likely. Being in an apartment. After that I would say get a used mobile rig. Yaesu ft 879 comes to mind. Maybe Icom 705. That way you're not out a ton of money, it's a lot smaller in size, and you can...
I have an icon sm30 desk mic hooked up to an Icom IC 7300 and when I key the mic it makes a noise inside the radio. Kind of like a relay bouncing back and forth very quickly. Only while the switch is in motion. Is anybody familiar with this problem?
Hey guys. I realize how old this thread is, but I have an issue. I've been trying for a couple of days to get that Chrome disc out of there, and I basically scratched it all up when it was in pristine condition. What if I drilled a hole in it and stick a hook in there and pull it out? Cuz it...
Brand new! Not functioning properly when received. For anyone who wants to repair it. Powers up. Screen shows squares all the way across.
$5 for gas plus shipping.
I noticed the receive LED doesn't come on when you flip the preamp switch on. I've never had it hooked to a radio though or antenna. I have some concerns about testing it. I've got a couple of old 23 Channel radios I might hook it to. Just for further testing. I am certainly not a tech. I work...
Damn it! Here's the finals. TIP 3055 C0229. Kind of Dusty in there. It doesn't look that bad with the naked eye. That photo makes it show up loud and clear. Also it looks like there's two of those same pills on the preamp stage.
Okay. I made an executive decision to forgo an outdoor project due to the temperature today. So I got pics and info on the inside of the amp. The transistors are almost impossible to see. I tried to hold a pointer in there , but it was too difficult to get a pic with the phone and the light and...
