I checked Rohn's' info on mounting and grounding.
Looks like a 4'x4'x4' hole for the concrete and rebar, and 3 ground rods, one off of each leg of the tower.
STOCK TRC 458:
I'd like it looked over and brought back to max. spec.s. It hasn't been turned on in 30 years. It's been sitting in a cabinet in a Chicago area unheated Garage. No mod.s unless you would suggest something for the recieve side. Just get it up to spec. peak perfromance.
What...
So, I've identified the 1st choice location for the tower I hope to erect this summer. Talked to Rohn and they suggested the 25G 40'. Mounted on a concrete pad and an additional house clamp. Maco M104C.
BUT. The location I would like is right next to our incoming underground phone lines and...
Thanks for the input of the wires. I see that only as an issue for the location of the dipole or is that a concern for the yagi also?
I can actually run the dipole/vee about anywhere. I fear the vertical above the beam would tax the rotor and also add to the cost, I'm putting the vee up on...
Standard old TRC458 <== got it, want it brought back to spec.
RS SWR meter <== got it
Maco M103C Horizontal <=== sturdy
CHANNEL MASTER 9521 Rotor Mounted a couple ft above an existing 10' mast a top of my house. (5' tripod, w guy wires) Puts it about 32ft up.
Inverted Vee from the pole as a...
Any idea where I can find the ac cord for a TRC 458? None currently on ebay
This cord/plug looks odd and of course I can't find the darn thing. I was lucky enough to still have the radio which was found in a cabinet in a garage, 2 houses bought and sold since I last used it. Pack Rat...
Belonged to a club called the Brown Bottles in the late 70s very early 80s. "Piano Man" was my Handle. Had the old 3 letter station number from way back in the early 60s as a kid with a knight kit. I remember feeding the babies at the daily 2:00am feeding and listening and talking local. Just...
Marconi:
I used a large TV rotor and choke for an old 3 element yagi years ago.
I've heard pro.s and con.s about mid. duty rotors for the Maco4. Thanks for the COAX tip.
I have access to a 30' tower. Been out of radio for 30 years.
Found my old Navaho AM SSB base. I hope to grab the tower this summer and start to set things up. Think I'm gonna do a MACO M104C Horizontal. They're sturdy and simple. Gonna have the local antenna guys install it and ground it...
1962ish. 100mW knight kit channel 7 walkie talkie. ( the blue one)
Soon after Knight Kit 22 w hand strung Dipole on the roof.
About a year Later a Johnson Messenger I think it was 5 channels
Put everything away until the mid 70s. Realistic Navaho Base AM SSB 1/2 wave ground plane and a 3...
Yep, so I hear. I ebay'd and Craigs listed and found mobiles w big linears.
I remember a friend had an older Browning with a matching Linear. I think it put out around 50 watts. He was king of the air.
Old time CBer here. Johnson Messenger, Realistic Navaho, Knight Kit 22, all gone now.
My daughter purchased a house with what looks like a PDL-2 on a 40' tower with the rotor motor.
No cables etc. She want's it down.
So I'm thinking of DXing again. I haven't thought DX in,, well many...
