Swing Mod for this radio is lift the front leg of L206 and install your swing mod there. Make sure the cap negative leg goes to the coil and the positive side goes into the hole you lifted L206 from.

40 watts is about average now. Back in the older models would do 50 but they changed things to make them a 40 watt radio. Glad to hear you found the problem. Don't throw away the old finals. Find the bad one and pitch it then use the others for radios you want to mosfet like a cobra.

I had one do this and it was one of the 520's. Checked fine but once it heated up it would fail. Changed all 3 and she was up and running like new. Good luck!

Wanted to update this simple crystal checker as there is a part that was not listed on the output. Make sure you add a 0.01 uF cap to it as shown. Here is a test from a 10.240 Crystal using my Fluke Frequency counter along with using my homemade modified Gooit counter.

VR11 sets the driver voltage and VR10 sets the voltage for both the finals.

If it was the one on the foil side of the board then C44 is the one.

Sounds like you bought a cheap speaker. Is it a squeal or a squall ? If squall then there is a grounding issue. Squeal is feedback from a low ohm speaker or a bad speaker.
