I've just picked up a box full of CB gear from the Widow of a silent key.
Amongst the inventory are a Zetagi B300P, Zetagi B550P, RM KL203, RM KL200, and RM KL505V.
Does anyone know what maximum input power I should be driving these with for long term reliability & longevity?
I recently got hold of a workman 5 tone roger beep and installed it. Does anyone know what components to change in order for it to make a weird and wonderful roger beep/s please? I'm not too happy with the results i'm getting from it by altering the blue variable presets. Thanks in advance for...

Hi. I'm interested in purchasing a new mobile/standard hf rig(0-30Mhz) that does 11m fm frequencies from the box and really don't want to pay much more than £700. I'm aware that the Icom 706 is easily modified, but the mod would deplete the default warranty. Any ideas please? Cheers in advance.
Hi Misterfatty. Somebody else on another forum suggested a "vco lock" problem. I also thought the vco could be at fault. However, the motorboating doesn't happen when i turn the rf output power down to 3 watts or lower. At 3.5 watts it motorboats for 5 secs or so then settles fine, but anything...
Hi. I've tried the transceiver on a fully charged battery, a 40 amp regulated psu and a dummy load with the same results. These criteria can be discounted. Regards.
Hi. I have an old Binatone uk fm cb that motorboats when i tx from channel 35 to 40 but not on the lower channels. It motorboats gradually worse as i go from 35 to 40, but doesn't do it when i turn the rf power down. In addition to this, it only motorboats for about 5 secs, the s meter...

Hi Bob85. Thanks very much indeed for the reply. I noticed the schematic was somewhat different than the b150, and that's good. On this note i look forward to getting myself another ssb transceiver in the hope that my audio is now decipherable. Cheers and best regards.
Hi. I've just picked up a b300 for a pittance and repaired it. I have a query ; What class amp is it? I think it's a class c but with some feedback from collector to base. I ask, as i had a Zetagi b150 that just didn't sound at all well on ssb due to it being class c which is only suitable for...
I'm about to purchase a Zetagi m95 hand mic. It's the grey one with a yellow slider. Anyone able to offer any input re the audio clarity on this unit please? All feedback is much appreciated. Regards.
As well as the suggestions provided, have you thought about using a bandpass/low pass filter after the amp? When i used to go mobile, i used to set car alarms/house alarms off regularly using just a 30 watt amp. When a filter was fitted, problems reduced by over 75%. Good luck mate.
Hi. I've think i've established that it's not right for ssb as it's a class c. I drive it with 4 watts on am/fm and 4 watts pep on ssb. I might try a variable resistor in the r4 position to see if i can improve things. Failing that, i'll just return the alc in my radio to do more power and omit...
that makes sense. What's more, a lead acid battery is only slightly over 12v so the bias will be even less. I've done a bit of searching on the net, and the schematic does seem very similar to a class c but with an added resistor. I might try adding a variable resistor in place of the gate...
Your comments are very much appreciated. I will buy a new power pack and try that route. Failing that, it's Zetagi falsely advertising their products for use on ssb. Have a nice weekend guys, and thanks for clearing that one up for me.
