11 meter is very quiet?

Should we try to schedule a coordinated CB skip week-end for like mid-December? How about December 13-14th, a full month away? This much lead time will give us time to get the word out.

LSB 38 and LSB 37 are becoming chronic train wrecks. A frequency that isn't regularly over-run would make for a better experience. Folks have suggested USB35 or USB40. Someone else mentioned LSB 33. I like the 33 idea since it isn't a channel widely used for skip. USB also is tempting since it doesn't seem to get much use.

How about it?
I think it's a good idea. I'm always listening for WDX- ...
You should make this it's own post.

Shitty neighbors can be a major PITA. When we lived in SoCal, our Korean neighbors had a tiny dog that barked 24/7. Totally annoying. I asked them politely to quiet it down. Their reply- " No speakee English."
I recorded their dog for about an hour's worth to take to the city to complain. Before I could do that, they had a party in their backyard for a bunch of friends. I put our stereo on the back porch, fired up the recording, and let it play (at high volume) all afternoon. Never heard their dog again.

I never hear anything on 33 lsb but usb 35 & 40 would work also. Sounds good for a meeting place. Good Luck I will keep my ears open when I can.. You might get a little bleed over on 35 usb, just a thought !

Just made contact with Gus 88XX01 in Habana Cuba! I've spoken to him a handful of times in the past as well. There can't be to many folks on the radio in Cuba, but I've had a few contacts there over the years.......... He's on there calling CQ again as I write this on 27.560 USB if anyone wants to try for Cuba.

Had my second farthest contact ever yesterday... Paul 43WA145 in Dongara, Western Australia. 14,500 Km from my QTH.
My longest contact was with a different Western Australia station a couple of years ago which was 14,950 Km from me.
Made the contact on 27.560 USB and he was the only station coming in........everyone else had faded out for the day.

Australia is very very common here on the west coast, but it's 99.9% stations in Queensland, NSW, & Victoria. Western Australia is very rare here.

Same here! I've made it to eastern Australia many times, and Tasmania too, but never to the western part.
Congrats!!!

When the band is long, it's long.
I often have difficulty working Nevada , Idaho and Oregon, and Southern California is often a challenge as well.
I need "short skip" conditions to effectively work those places.
Phil in Nevada ( he's now over on the coast) was a rare contact for me, even when we used to do DX contests I think I only had 1 confirmed contact with him.
One thing I can say without a doubt, back when I lived by Bootjack ca, there was times that my little 1/4 wave antenna would work short skip much better than my big ground plane, I believe it was because of the higher angle of radiation with the smaller antenna.
Have fun working DX

Don't feel a lone.I've been hearing but not hitting also for some reason. But still haven't had a lot of time to devote to it. Old man winter will slow me down !
