Your service menu settings should not be effected as part of the firmware upgrade.Pez I have a question about the upgrade...... Do the existing service menu settings get wiped out in the upgrade?
I have some related to AM dead-key, SSB power out etc. that I changed. Will I have to go back into the service menu after the upgrade and re-do those changed settings or do the service menu settings get left alone during the upgrade?
I realize you are playing it safe, but the FW upgrade is well worth it. You could downgrade to the earlier version if needed.
Oh yes, after reading up on it, I installed the new firmware last Thursday. I just needed some time to think about it. All of my values stayed the same, and all is well. I just about $hit a brick when I restarted and there were no lights. LOL... But after the quick reset all was good.I realize you are playing it safe, but the FW upgrade is well worth it. Don't feel alone when it come to firmware updates, I might mess my pants also for fear of messing up a expensive radio. I bought the cable and downloaded the updates for my 2 Q6 Pros firmware, but have to work up the courage. LOLI did just about $hit a brick when I restarted and there were no lights. LOL... The firmware update for the Q5N2 came with simple instructions, but I was still not sure until I finally just did it. lol...Don't feel alone when it come to firmware updates, I might mess my pants also for fear of messing up a expensive radio. Most of my problem is I have so many projects going on it is too easy to put off the ones I'm not real comfortable with. Most of the time when you get into it you end up wondering why you put it off so long. Maybe someone here on the forum will help you through it.

LOL! Same here!I did just about $hit a brick when I restarted and there were no lights.
I will take credit for the VFO unmute. That was my campaign with QX, that started with this radio and went onto the future models. Pez and I were working on QX, with a pair of pliers and a blowtorch, for feature requests. I would say things turned out pretty well for the current and now, past lineup. I hope they get the CW function right, but we shall see.Oh yes, after reading up on it, I installed the new firmware last Thursday. I just needed some time to think about it. I've been running the QT60 Pro, and I'm spoiled to the VFO function. In my opinion, this makes the radio SO much better, and user friendly when you're in free band.
SuperLid, I appreciate you, and the information and help with this, more than I can say. Excellent choices for the update.I will take credit for the VFO unmute. Thank you Brother DXer! I have not been as involved with the QX stuff lately. I have been spending more time on the development of some antennas (base, mobile and a portable). The dimmer function was on my wish list as well, for the LONG chassis. Prior to the FW update, the VFO muting was a showstopper for me. I would not use that radio at all and refused to do a review on it, because it was not usable to me. Had the FW update been done quickly, that would have changed a review dramatically. Problem was, the FW update was delivered very late, like well over a year late, which by that time the new generation radios were out by then. The new radios had incorporated the new features, before the LONG chassis.SuperLid, I appreciate you, and the information and help with this, more than I can say. Excellent choices for the update.
And @Pez , thank you too Sir, very much! You have done SO much for all of us!
