FT-891...anyone try this mod?

That's very good to get it repaired, and shipped back that fast. The three year warranty was one of the reasons I bought the FT-891, but not the main reason. Just hope I never need to use the warranty, but it is peace of mind.

Can't remember right off hand if the warranty is transferrable or not. I think I read it's not, but I am not sure.

Soldered my last one, had to have someone assist me with the new one, but the temporary contact method does, in fact, work. Thanks for sharing!

I just bought two more 891's this summer. Put one in my truck and other in the shack. I soldered the first one. My eyes and shaky hands really gave me trouble. I tried this method again with help from a buddy. It worked like a champ. So yes, it works on the latest rigs still being shipped.

Guess I was just nervous the first time I tried this. Glad it worked. My solder job doesn't look the best on my first rig.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
