New Galaxy 959 Problem

Maybe because he is an authorized dealer?? I am stumped as well w9cll. Guess they must know that the radios either have issues, or that modding them won't void the warranty. Who knows, I guess if they said to send it back under warranty then they are okay with whatever was done.

It's got a little eye candy but much more than for what a stock 959 goes for. On the other hand here's DTB's offering which includes a tune and full alignment.

Galaxy DX959, DTB Radio's Webstore

P.S. Last year I sent my 959 to DTB to have this done:
Open clarifier
Install Viagra board
tune and align
Receive mod
NB mod
He also fixed the meter light dimming issue by soldering a jumper from the + imput to the meter.

$150 worth of stuff done.

If the radio was moded outside of mfg specs how can it be fix under warranty?

Galaxy will honor the Factory warranty on "expanded" radios as long as it is not your crappy work that caused the problem.

If they find Botched up/Clipped limiters/All VR`s to the right/swing modifications to radios you send them, you are shit outta luck and they will send it back to you.

Im no expert by no means but im about 99.9% sure just the TX is gone out of it. It's doing what a radio does with the mic disconnected weather the mic is connected or not.

I've heard of Don's before...even stepped foot in the door. Its been a long time ago though...and that's before I knew there was such a thing as a good tech/bad tech. I have never heard anything either way regarding them...

Personally, I'd call Galaxy back and ask them if you can send it to DTB...Dave has a decent reputation and he is a Galaxy tech. Like others, DTB is who set my DX959 up...it was new in box with a fried biasing circuit and off frequency. It took him a long time to go through it...

DTB is a good tech for sure, there is also Doug's custom cb's, he is pretty good with the 959's. Check out some of his vids. And yes it might be worth a call back and asking if you can send it to the authorized tech you choose, or is it because of the area you are in that they told you to send it to don's. It is definitely worth a shot, and not trying to disrespect DTB in any way as he is a great tech, it's just that Doug's custom cb's is a good shop as well, and it never hurts to have options. Anyway, hope you get your radio fix and under warranty (fixed that is). God bless.

Yeah, I only mentioned DTB because he does the work to my radios...any of the shops that are known to be decent would likely be a better choice than one you know very little about.
