New Galaxy 959 Problem

I don't know if they can tell if it's a refurb but most everybody will have you send a defective product back to the manufacturer for repairs or replacement.

P.S. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks. Thanks for all the info also from all of you. I just wish I would have found this forum before I ordered. Whats the best place to order from? I know different folks have different opinions but I enjoy reading them. I'm sure Galaxy will get it all lined out. I know there good radios. Both my uncles has more than one of them. About what kind of turn around and I looking at from the day I send it off? Do you think they will send me a RAN# from the email I sent to Tech Support or do I need to request one? Thanks again.

Somebody pitch in here about turn around time. The only thing I've got from Galaxy as far as warranty goes is they sent me a new stock hand mic. My other problem was a bad Viagra blue dot B board I bought from Star Electronics and Communications and had DTB Radio install. The board failed soon after. I replaced that one with a new Ranger experiential SMT V board.
I had originally bought my 959 from Amazon before I found out about where's the best places to buy one.

Ok I got this done. I hope I get a number back soon and I will try to get this thing out. Thanks for all the help!

It's a shame that when we buy these radios that the shop techs charge around 30-40 to peak and tune the radios then when they go up in smoke within the first few minutes they want to send you straight to galaxy instead of fixing the problem themselves that they most likely caused in the first place. I knew another person that had the same problem. Had the radio just a few days and died for no reason. the popular on-line dealer he bought his from charged extra for a peak and tune job. He called them and all they did was give him the galaxy phone number. When they pull the backs off of em they should take some of the responsibility if for nothing more than repeat business and good PR. IMO .

I can only hope that Redman didn't do a mod to this radio that could have damaged the receive. The rest of the regular mods are reversible; but if he messed with the receive by adding a resistor to a diode to make the receive stronger, it has the downside of burning a few parts. Just send it to the Galaxy techs and they will set it right, they are really on top for taking care of their customers.

I have no I deal what he done. I know it was RX when the sound went out and that's when it wouldn't key up no more or hear anything. When I ask about what he done on a peak and tune he just said and align and 100% modulation.

Please include your power cord and microphone with your radio.
Your return authorization number (xxxxxxxxxxxx) should be placed on the outside of the shipping box just below your return address.
Print a copy of this email and send with radio.

Return time on repairs is about 1-2 weeks.
Please ship your radio to:

Don's CB Service
3309 Dynes Ave.
Erie, PA 16510
Phone: 814-898-1046

Its going out in the morning. This is where they told me to ship it to. Has any of you ever done business with this place? I'm sure there good if Galaxy is having me send it there. Thanks again for all your help and info.

Like posted, take photos and maybe take a sharpie and mark it in a spot not so easily seen. That and like posted, note the serial number and any other literature that may help identify it as your radio. JMO. Good luck and hope you get it all sorted out.

If the radio was moded outside of mfg specs how can it be fix under warranty? The minute Redman opened the hood it should have voided the warranty unless they are a licensed service center. Maybe I missed something here.
