New Ham (KN6TUX)

Congrats and welcome!
Took the exam myself in March and am quite glad I did. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have already.
Lots of fine folks to hang with here. Have made some good friends.

I never worked a KN6 as a novice; FCC began issuing WV6 prefixes for new California novices, upgrading them to WA6 prefixes when the licensee upgraded, this was back in the early 1960s. I had to look at the KN6TUX long and hard before it sank in. Congratulations on the new call -- makes you sound older :).

My best ham friend was licensed as KN7MER and "dropped the N" when he got his conditional. After high school he moved to Southern California and requested a "6" call sign. He received W6TXK, which in that era REALLY marked him as an old timer!
