I never worked a KN6 as a novice; FCC began issuing WV6 prefixes for new California novices, upgrading them to WA6 prefixes when the licensee upgraded, this was back in the early 1960s. I had to look at the KN6TUX long and hard before it sank in. Congratulations on the new call -- makes you sound older

My best ham friend was licensed as KN7MER and "dropped the N" when he got his conditional. After high school he moved to Southern California and requested a "6" call sign. He received W6TXK, which in that era REALLY marked him as an old timer!
