Wonder when a new hf mobile will hit the market? Not much to choose from nowadays. Alinco is due to drop a new one. ICOM is due, as well. Kenwood has the same old boring behemoth. Figure someone would have released a mobile SDR by now. I'm talking about 100 stuff.

    Bored with the current options.

Yes, would be, but sorta big. It's about time for Alinco and Kenwood to offer one. Figured ICOM would bring something. The 706 and 7000 were/are popular mobiles, but long in the tooth.

20W is plenty to drive an amplifier.

The 705 should be released soon. Lots of hams waiting for it. I'm thinking the next HF mobile will be vastly different. I doubt it will be superhet. A mobile version of the 703 and 7610 would be sweet. The remote head would be touchscreen and main unit contain the processor and stout RF deck.

I'd like to see something like the 705 being able to be detachable from an RF deck for portable use, then slap it back in the mobile. Maybe have a base unit as well.

Just fantasy, but. I do believe the next line of mobiles will be off the wall different.

I've been eyeballing that. I had a 10e. Nice rig. I didn't like being married to a PC.

Have you seen this? I like the looks of it. YouTube video and reviews are positive. It does 30 watts. https://www.ebay.com/itm/303101292883.

Made in China. Might be like others, not really the best in the cold.

I can't stand the cold. I used to not mind it, but now I hate it. I only do summer Field Days. You must be in good shape. I could likely make it to the summit. I'd need medivac to get down.

Yeah, putting a kg aluminum brick next to your skin at -18C to warm it up was not fun. Old, cranky, foolish, maybe slightly in shape.

I like same old same old for the most part. New HF rigs mostly just use more current while just sitting there receiving, and also add more menu items. I still like my Ten-Tec Scout, Omni-D and Argonaut 505. Also my FT-840 and my TS-520.
I also like my R390 and R390A receivers, and wish I had my DX-100 transmitter back. I also wish I had got that T-368 when I had the chance.
One thing I would like to have is a separation kit for my DX-70. I never got around to buying one back when they were still making it.

I'm basically wanting a 100 watt mobile. Currently, Yaesu has the only mobile in production. Not much to choose from, unless used.
