Sams PhotoFacts Collection

I have CB Volume 254 but its part of my collection. I can scan a specific radio if you would like... Dan
Hello Dan, I have a JC Penny 981-6246 and from what I can make out it is the same as a Sears 934.38260700. I need basic alignment info and locations. Any help would be very much appreciated.

The info for the 555/550 is in #292. The last 2 volumes that Sams published weren't photofacts. They were the complete factory service manuals for these radios. So, you'll have everything that you need.

I have volume 292 in my set, but it will take a while to scan the entire service manual. I'll send it later today. PM me your emaIL addy, and I'll send it there .

That's a great radio. Good luck fixing it. 73s.

Do you have sam's cb219, or cb285??
I am desperately searching for either Tram D300 or teaberry stalker XX, or perhaps even Cobra 142gtl. Been looking for the pc-385af board but if you had any of these 3 radios that would be a huge help.

Antenna length on my mobile. So I’ve had 3 different radios in my truck. 2006 f250 super duty. 29ltd NW, 29 ltd clasic, and now a galaxy DX44HP. My steel whip is somewhere around 89”. Which I know is way to short. But show 1.2 SWR on all 3 radios. And I have a a bench SWR meter that shows the same results. Which I find odd and disturbing. Note the frequency is 27.205. The longer I make the whip the higher the SWR. At 102” it’s up around 2.5. Which totally blows any of my experience i have with mobile radio antennas. I have the antenna mounted to a post just higher than the cab. I’ve swapped the jump through several to different ones. Even tried lug and so239. Connections at the antenna. Seems to transmit well and receives well. Any ideas how this could be possible?

Turns out I was missing the ground to the cab. Problem solved. Now have 102” exact and 1.2 SWR 26.005 megahertz through 28.005 megahertz. Pictures posted on my profile.
