From what I gather from this forum, a lot of us are older gentlemen. Me I'll be 55 this coming March. I noticed my last day of work my right arm was a little sore, and I had a small briuse on my elbow didn't think much of it. A day after I got home, after taking a shower and started to apply my deodorant, I raise my right arm and this is what I find!
My Dr said I partially tore my tricep and I have no clue how or when it happened. Just wondering if this happens to any of the others on this forum? In my head I'm still 25yrs old, but my body keeps saying, Oooo NO YOUR NOT!!!

Looks like your going to do the Macarena!!

All kidding aside…that’s a wild bruise. Your body is telling you to slow it down a bit you geezer! I will be 52 and my back spasms a few times a year. I have been getting those since my mid 20’s. Got one 2 weeks ago and just started feeling better. Could be worse for us I guess. LOL

Yep! Getting old and being old is better than the other alternative, ( Dead )

I'm 58 and have been having some issue with my right shoulder. Thought at first it was osteoarthritis since I am full of it elsewhere in my body. Last year I had a total knee replacement because of it. I saw the orthopaedic surgeon last week about it and he is sure I have a torn rotator cuff and a biceps tendon that is slipping out of place, Normally the long end of the biceps muscle tendon runs thru a groove in the upper arm bone....the humerus..... and is held in place by an overlaying tendon. He feels I also tore that tendon and when I raise my right arm or hold it out and rotate it, the tendon slips out of place and back in. This causes irritation and swelling leading to tendonitis and pain. When did I do it? How did I do it? No idea on either account. My shoulder has bothered me a bit for a few years but after doing a certain job it bothered me a LOT but has settled down somewhat for the time being. Looking ahead to an MRI or CT-arthrogram to determine exactly what damage I did. He asked me if it was preventing me from doing anything. I told him "Well not really. I'm stubborn and generally just go ahead and get the job done knowing full well I will probably pay for it later. That has worked out well for me in the past, but now that I am older.....not so much". Apparently that was the WRONG answer from the look on his face and the shaking of his head.

I've heard it said that Age 35 is actually a turning point in a mans life when the military no longer wants you to enlist and the insurance companies start looking at you as a higher risk. It was at age 45 when I started to notice it was starting to hurt to get up off the floor. Can't remember all the things that have hurt since then ! LOL

Right there with you on the shoulders, my Dr says I don't have enough cartilage in my shoulders to do me any good. My Right shoulder is the worst, but I can feel both shoulders grind when I rotate my arms. I'm stubborn like that also, in the past things seem to work out, now things just deteriorate worse. Last month when I went in with shoulder pain I told him I didn't know what I did to them, he gave me a funny look and said, what haven't you done to them is the bigger question. I know eventually I'll have to have something done to them, but like you, if I can still manage to get by, I'll put it off a little longer.

A knee specialist I went to got me taking Glucosamine, Chondroitin, & MSM for the joints and after following the directions for 3 days I started to notice the knee pain was subsiding and I was starting to walk like a man again. It is suppose to help your body repair or build cartilage and make joint lubricant. It's worth a shot.

I'm 55, and yesterday after consulting with my family physician about my multiple injuries and new pains, my first thought was -

"I need my wife to go with me next time, because I know that I forgot to mention certain things, and I'm sure that I missed a few things that doc said."

Second thought - "I can't believe that nobody has come up with a monitor/logger/translator to simply record all of the various pains and when/why they occur. This way way the doc simply downloads the codes via my OBD2 port."

Yes, 35+ years of working on bridges, concrete structures and deep foundations has left me feeling less than great. And with my time split between two unions, not enough years in either to draw an unreduced pension.......
