Got my Mauldulator today, WOW

not being an audio guru, I can say that some sound clips I have heard were interesting to say the least. The only problem I see is this. Everyone of these guys is broad casting way over 3khz wide. some guys approacing 10. if you're talking on CB and 99% of the world doesnt have a wide banded reciever its worthless and sounds like shit. Its being preached to the wrong choir. It seems like a good idea but hey... its CB radio.

I feel like its wasted.

linearone,

I would have to agree with you that 99% of all people use cb radios, however I don't know anyone that uses a stock radio, most all of them have been modified in some way or the other.

I for one have virgin 148 that I used to remotely listen to myself from 10 miles away on the mauldulator. I had 5 other stations key up for compairision, I must say, and the other stations agree, that even on the stock 148 reciver, the sound from the mauldulator is %50 better than the other 5 stations.

I personally talk on the superbowl, and I know for a fact that the TOP 100 stations use ham rigs, old colins equipment or very very modified Cb's, and like PRIME MINISTA'S song says,

Their aint no excuses on da bowl !

Hey 302,

I just can not get over how good this thing sounds, I found a small 1 pill amp, now i'm looking at 5 RMS swinging to 35 PEP and sounding like FM radio.

And just what does FM radio sound like? Is it different from AM radio, all other factors being equal?

Just how does FM with 3 KHz deviation sound better than AM with 3 KHz modulation, everything else being equal?

Inquiring minds want to know!

ButtFuzz,

I am new to the high fidelity stuff so I can not answer your question regarding the 3Khz stuff.

Here in the town I live in AM broadcast radio sounds kinda plane, flat, mono sounding, like the same sound a CB makes and the FM broadcast stations sound full, rich and warmer and I can hear a lot wider range of sounds very clearly as compaired to Am, thats whay I used that as a compairison.

If you can clarify your question I would be glad to ask the guy that makes it and get back to you.

I shall start by retuning my Kraco to DK 1W and swing 2W into my 1 pill driving my 2 pill driving my 4 pill driving my 8 pill driving my 16 pill driving my 32 pill driving my 64 pill driving my 128 pill driving my 256 pill........................................................................................................................................................................................................ now the way I got it figured, if I don't run out of money, power and room to stack this stuff up, you will all soon tremble at the sound of Black Dog keying up.

I will own the airwaves and all who come before me will have to beg for the privilege of talking on my channels.

Prepare thy-selves to be squashed, Mud Ducks!

Now that's funny right there.(y) ... but sadly enough it sounds like it might be the key.:pop:

I gotcha man.

I was just giving you a hard time.

"Broadcast" VHF FM (88.5-108 MHz) in the US sounds so much better in part because of the audio bandwidth with which it is allowed by rule to be modulated (deviated). 30 Hz to 15 kHz. This is, again partly, the reason FM Stereo Broadcast "Channels" are "so far" apart from one another, e.g. 100 KHz.

"Broadcast" Medium Wave AM in the US: 520 kHz–1,610 kHz 10 KHz "channel" spacing. Allowed modulated audio is "limited to 10.2 kHz by an NRSC standard adopted by the FCC in June of 1989" See also shit-E® brand analog sound.

Now try to get high fidelity on a Communications Device (such as CB), where the the modulating (or deviating) audio is essentially limited from 300-3000 Hz. Hmm, not sounding so good, is it?

Just think how it would sound to someone else who had a receiver that would do that rig justice?

You can't stuff 10 lbs. of shit in a 5 lbs. bag and expect it to sound good on a normal radio.

This is getting nit-picky, but you shouldn't mix up the methods of measurement when quoting output power. I realize that when you're talking about the carrier, the RMS (average) and PEP output are equal, but that's not the point.

Sorry Moleculo,
I am new to this CB stuff and certainaly have probably said the above mentioned terms incorrectly.

I use a bird meter and it has a switch, the down position I thought was RMS, and the up position was swing or PEP. I know this is a very high quality meter but it was given to me by my grandfather, otherwise I would have a cheap inaccurate radio shack or off brand meter. :D

I will not be offended if you help point me in the right direction as far as the terminology and reading this meter.(y)

Thanks

So the specks on this mauldulator as advertised is I think something like 80 to 6500 Hz is pretty good?, Hell I do not know all this teck stuff, all I can say is that it sure does sound good.

Thanks for the input, I'm new to this stuff and I'm trying really hard to understand it. Whats up with the psycho guy, he says im PUSHING this thing, Is he saying im driving it to hard into a amp?, I dont have a amp. I don't understand what that means, do you?

like I said above, I don't understand it, all I can say is it sure sounds good evidenced by the 10 people that showed up at my door wanting to just get a look at it and talk on it.

Anyways, thanks for the help " Buttfuzz " what a great handle !!!

Let me guess..........................next is the Mauldulator AM STEREO Real Time Processor. Of course if you get that everyone else will need to get the receive version of it for true Stereo reproduction.

Coming soon to a KMart near you.........:headbang
I might have to put the CB in my audio rack.
