I live close-by a busy truck stop off a major interstate (I-5 running north/south thru California). Should I expect to hear some chatter?

tampa fl exit 10 ,,,, i 4,,,,,, lots of 1 mile wonders there at the t a,,,,,, 500 dollars for a big juiced up radio,,, 1200 for a big comp amp,,,, then stick a cheap low grade firestick on a mirror and once ya get down the road one mile ya cant hear them anymore,,,,

More than likely they're too busy staring down their phones - I've seen people (I won't call them truckers - they're now more like Zombies) use adverted vision to parallel park, backing and pulling into pumps without ever looking up past the dash or side to side - CRAZY! Its' either, they're too busy with Fortnite or Candy Crush - stupid stuff man ... they'd run over a guy and claim "it" was in their blind spot - yeah right...

Channel 19 and if necessary, a lot of the Truck stops that have a shop or two, use channel 20 to "blast a whistle" so they may keep it there on the 20 - as the standby to "bleed over into the stuff in the parking lot" to get attention.

You may want to "scan the band" to see if others in a caravan / convoy - escort are doing something...

19 is alive here from about 5 am till about 2 am in the night,,, not just with truckers but the locals use it to contact each other and chat,, but also there is the few agitators that stay just to harrass the truck drivers and others,,,there is the morning commuters and lunch time chatters,, and then the nightly home bound travelers,, then the evening group who are just drinking and relaxing talking crap on their radios,,,,i usually get on about 10 pm and we have a small group and will ragchew till about 2 am,,, but also there is the trucker traffic,, drivers looking for one of the many warehouses here locally or for a place to park and rest/wait for appointment to load/unload,,,,19 is far from being dead here and is a pleasent channel to talk on even with the agitaors,,,,,

Depends on your area. Here at the NJ/NYC Metropolitan area CB is still alive. 19 is full of truckers as are other channels. 38 LSB is local side banders too.
