So far , the 1st attempt was the one I had the best luck with ... it had keyup ...
Hi everyone , I've been trying to wire a Turner 254 desktop mic to my Heathkit HW-101 ... and apparently I'm not getting the right combination to make it work . I have the Turner Mic Wiring book ... but it doesn't list the HW-101 in it , and I haven't had any luck finding anything online for it...
I know the radio itself was constructed by an individual (and whoever built mine did a great job) . But what I was wondering , since the kits were made from 1970 to 1983 ... is if there is anyway to be able to tell a 1970 model from a 1983 model ? Like a serial number , date stamp , updates to...
I recently bought a nice Heathkit HW-101 . Since these were made for so many years , I was wondering if there's any way to tell about what year mine was made ?
Thanks
No , the speaker is working fine . I have an Astatic Road Devil on the RCA Co-Pilot and everything is working fine . But the Road Devil has really low transmit audio because I have to keep the slide switch on the side REALLY low , or it starts squealing .... and then it still squeals sometimes...
I actually thought the same thing too . I'm wondering if the Shield & Blue may not have a good connection . But I've been too busy to check it since I posted this .
Well that didn't work , but thanks for trying . I have no idea ... but I know I need better audio in the mobile than my constantly squealing Road Devil mic . These newer Astatic mics are crap anymore . I know I can wire it up to my Cobra 29 LX ... so I guess I'll take the Co-Pilot out and retire...
Guitar_199 , according to what you shared ... Pin 1 and Pin 4 need to be reversed . I'm warming up the soldering gun now . I'll let you know how it goes . Thanks
Hey everyone , I have an RCA Co-Pilot 14T302 that I'm trying to wire an Astatic D104 M6B microphone to ... and I wired it like my Road Devil is , which is :
Pin 1. White
Pin 2. Shield & Blue
Pin 3. Black
Pin 4. Red
the mic has transmit , but the radio isn't receiving with this wiring code ...
The electrolytic capacitors were my first thought . That's why in my first post I asked "Is it Electrolytic Capacitor related , or does it have something different going on ?" . With these older radios , the electrolytic capacitors are almost always the culprit when something goes wrong ... lol
Thanks everyone ... and WOW Andy , you put in some time for researching it ... lol .
To answer the 1st question ... I am using a 2m/440 duplexer , hooked up correctly ... and it's hooked up to a 2 meter antenna . I put my FT-897D on the same frequency that the TW-4000a is on . They're both on...
I was testing it out on Simplex to begin with . I'd key the Kenwood up and say my call sign , and I can see the keyup on the Kenwood's display . The audio bar moves with my voice ... but I'm not hearing any audio coming from any of the receiving radios I used (I tested it with a few different...
So I recently purchased a Kenwood TW 4000a , and I realize it's a 30 year old radio ... that's one of the reasons I wanted it .
It receives good ... and it has keyup , but no transmit . When I key the mic , I can see the signal bar moving with my audio , but I don't hear any audio transmitting...
Hi everyone ,
I know I'm going to feel stupid for asking this question . But I have an old Heathkit SB-102 and it was working fine and then all of a sudden it stopped working properly .When I turn it on , the power only goes as far as the tube circled in the picture , and no...
I have a friend with an RCI 2990 that has an issue which he can't figure out . So I thought I'd ask here , and see if anyone else might have any ideas as to what's going on with it .
He says that his 2990 works good on all the modes (AM,FM,USB & CW) like it should . But on Lower Sideband it...
