For now I seemed to have traced the problem in my radio to the mic. I am still using the hand mic and waiting to see if the modulation drops again. In the mean time I am looking at ideas for a new mic. I have a galaxy 2547 base that I would be using the mic with. I am mostly interested in desk...
Ok guys I threw on a handmic and it seems to have fixed the problem. I can't seem to find the problem in the desk mic though. The only thing it could be is the element as I have went over all of the wiring. I am thinking on just getting a new mic, I will let you guys know what I decide.
Do you guys think there is anyway it could be the radio? I am thinking maybe there is a short in the mic plug so tommorow I will put a new one on. Anyone else have ideas.
Hey guys got my new jumper the other day and started talking on the radio again. Yesterday I noticed that once in a while the modulation would drop on my radio. I was using the internal meter and it would drop from a around 100% to about 20%-30%. I was curious if it was just the meter so I got...
Hi guys. I am sure some of you remember me, I was very busy over the last few months which left no time for the radio or this forum. This morning I fired my radio up, to find to my knowledge, my jumper was bad. When I key up with my swr meter in line my rf meter on the radio moves just a little...
I wouldn't buy it I would stick with a wilson 1000. A used one in good condition can be had for 30-40 dollars and it will work a lot better than that one.
Shouldn't be long until someone comes up with something, great move on the swr meter. Keep us updated on how everthing goes. If you get a wilson 1000 and adjust your swr you should do real good. I use a 102'' whip for my mobile but people say they get a good 10 to 20 miles with their wilsons.
Yeah it is if you think talking to someone down the road is great wait until you talk to someone across the U.S. it is a great feeling. Like I said the ssb radios are much esier to talk skip on. Do some research about ssb on the web I could write for hours about it but I don't have the time...
Who ever said the antenna was already perfectly tuned was wrong. It will vary from setup to setup. I still strongly recommend saving your money and buying the right gear the first time. Lets say you buy a 20 dollar radio and blow the final then buy another $20 radio that's 40 bucks you could...
I can't say you would notice a huge difference, but it is usally prefered it is mounted in the center of the car. By the way how is the antenna working for you, how many miles are you getting out?
The a99 will work for 10,11,12 meters without a tuner I think. With a tuner it will do a little more. It is going to cost some money to get into cb, instead of going cheap save your money for a few weeks and then by quality gear. The a99 isn't the best cb antenna but many people have used them...
Like I said the old vintage meters seem to either not work or be very inacurate. It is really not recomended that you transmit on your radio until you check the swr. In another thread I noticed yu bought a cheap antenna. Chances are you will have trouble with your swr since you bought one of...
Again this is a very important part. If you go the cheap route and buy a swr meter that gives incorrect readings such as, it says you swr is 1.5:1 when it is really way higher than that, then you may blow the final in your radio. As long as that meter is accurate it should work though.
Don't think that will work with mobile. Remember CB stands for constantly buying, it is going to be hard to have a very good setup for $10, just save some money and buy the right gear first. It will be worth it in the long run.
Locally the maco 5/8 will out talk the imax 2000. As far as shooting skip it would be almost impossible to tell, but my maco has done it's fair share whenever the skip is rolling.
