Just wondering how bad you guys have it with your local's on regular 40ch. AM? I'm not talking about skip...just your local talkers at night (or day) when the skip is gone. I'm in the Rockford, IL area and most of these guys are horrible.
I realize it's C.B. radio and any jerk with $100 can set...
If I wanted to watch TV or stare at my computer monitor, I'd sit on the sofa or sit at my PC. Though the radio might "perform", it's ugly IMO. Almost as bad as the radios w/ fruitloop bluetooth crap.
I got a TRC-485 from an old timer about a month ago. The radio lights up just fine. Goes through all channels, switches between am/usb/lsb just fine. It has no TX or no RX.....most of the time. I know it's strange. Sometimes you turn it on and it works for 2 minutes, sometimes not at all, and...
Checking to see if anyone has any interest in my Quintron rack mount battery backup power supply. It is the standard rack mount width of 17" wide. It's 7" tall, and 8" deep. It works fine as a stand alone power supply. I am unsure if the battery backup section works. Nor do I have the battery...
Here's a crazy question for you all. Is it possible to reverse a antenna switch? Instead of 1 radio being switched between 2 antennas, could I run 1 antenna between 2 radios? Obviously not at the same time. I have 1 antenna and want to run one radio in my house and 1 in the garage.
I'm in business. Turns out the P.O. did a wonderful job of soldering the negative battery wire to the positive side of the 9v plugin. It was nice and well hidden leaving me stumped for hours upon end. I now have no hair left on my head after pulling it all out like a mad scientist. Happy DX'ing...
I picked up a SSK for $10 (OK, $25 for the mic and a Teaberry stalker II am/ssb 40 ch). The mic don't work at all. I did the business card contact scrape/clean trick. Installed a fresh 9v batt. Inspected the inside for loose wires. Everything looks fine inside.
I wired it for my 139XLR. It...
Here I have a Cobra 139XLR 40 channel ssb radio. I am 99% sure this radio has never been touched inside. Clarifier is not tied. No extra holes or swiches. Original mic. Radio is very clean with only a few minor scratches on the case. Inside may be dusty. Some points of interest I will point out...
I'm getting close to jumpering into it with a sledge hammer! :headbang
c44 checked spot on with my fluke.
The 12 watts is...like i said....on my "CHEESY" RS meter.
Who knows. I'm close to taking the thing into the local shop. Once he figures it out I'll have him do a ekl2030 mod.
1. I dont know if it has ever been hooked up backwards. It hasn't by me anyway.
2. It's a 04' model (china made)
3. It shows roughly 12 deadkey on my cheesey RS meter.
4. Touching pin 4 with my finger does nothing. The only sound I get is when I turn the radio on and off. I get a pop in the...
LC, I should have informed you from the get go....I DO NOT have any receive audio. I also checked the legs of tr17 and it does have 1.5v on the base. However the collector is off. on transmit it drops down to 1.7v.
Dont sweat it about the audio chip, $5 out of pocket from my local CB shop is...
OK, so I replaced the 7222 audio chip with a brand new one. Still got nothing. Next suggestion? Is there a capacitor in line there somewhere that might have gone south?
