I have a few questions before doing the mod :) Is there any power drop when TX on the extended frequencies (173MHz in my case)? Is stock antenna OK for TX on 173MHz, or maybe Midland SRH-536 that I have, how would they perform? Thanks and 73!

I thrid CHIRP, used it to program Baofengs, Kenwoods, Yaesus and Wouxuns, finally all of my rigs have the same channel setup with little to no effort :)

I have TH-D72, I choose it over Yaesu, beacuse of the firmware upgrade possibility, great PC connectivity and better looks :) I really like the ID-51, but D-Star here in S5 is not so popular, so spending all that money is a no-go here for me. Best thing would be for you to try them, find some...

I have to agree with kd-5-bgt. Start with something cheaper to see what do you really like. I started with Wouxun UVD1, then after a year I decided to go the TH-D72 way, APRS is a bless and lots of fun. In the meanwhile, I got HF rig, Yaesu FT-857d also :) And I still use my Wouxun :)

I use Kenwood SMC-34 mic on my TH-D72, has volume control and 3 programmable buttons on the top.

Still they haven't fixed bugs: - When typing text, sometimes, the cursor for input laggs behind and we push last character. Like it would go left by one space and then insert text there. - In MR mode, sometimes, when switching between channel name and frequency, A or B gets stucked on frequency...

I solved the problem... I wanted to use stored fixed position from MyPostition menu 360, but didn't know how to select one. You just have to press * on the keypad when memory slot number is blinking, the same as with User Phrases or StatusText, in the manual it is mentioned at that part, :)
