    Kenwood TH-D72 failures

Mine developed this error as well. But only on VHF. That is why it took me so long to notice. All FM communications were over UHF, only APRS on VHF. But it was weird that only two packets from the top of the hill were picked up by gateways :D Put it in for a repair, will post follow up when I...

    Another one?

It takes some design elements from Kenwood TH-D72. But man is this thing ugly, somewhere in the UV5R league :D Seriously, I want integrated APRS support in one of those, that would be great.

    Kenwood TH-D72 Extended TX mod

I have a few questions before doing the mod :) Is there any power drop when TX on the extended frequencies (173MHz in my case)? Is stock antenna OK for TX on 173MHz, or maybe Midland SRH-536 that I have, how would they perform? Thanks and 73!

    Yaesu FT-252 and FT-257

They look cheap and ugly in my opinion, no mention of them on the official Yaesu page.

One programing file for mobiles and HTs

I thrid CHIRP, used it to program Baofengs, Kenwoods, Yaesus and Wouxuns, finally all of my rigs have the same channel setup with little to no effort :)

My First HT: VX-8DR vs ID-51 vs TH-D72

I have TH-D72, I choose it over Yaesu, beacuse of the firmware upgrade possibility, great PC connectivity and better looks :) I really like the ID-51, but D-Star here in S5 is not so popular, so spending all that money is a no-go here for me. Best thing would be for you to try them, find some...

New Ham and (probably) VX8DR owner needs advice on antennae

I have to agree with kd-5-bgt. Start with something cheaper to see what do you really like. I started with Wouxun UVD1, then after a year I decided to go the TH-D72 way, APRS is a bless and lots of fun. In the meanwhile, I got HF rig, Yaesu FT-857d also :) And I still use my Wouxun :)

Are there any HTs that use a remote-control mike?

I use Kenwood SMC-34 mic on my TH-D72, has volume control and 3 programmable buttons on the top.

I have one for my TH-D72, great mic, only the rubber cover for earpiece gets out easily and annoys me :D

    Kenwood TH-D72 firmware 1.05 update

Still they haven't fixed bugs: - When typing text, sometimes, the cursor for input laggs behind and we push last character. Like it would go left by one space and then insert text there. - In MR mode, sometimes, when switching between channel name and frequency, A or B gets stucked on frequency...

    TH-D72

I solved the problem... I wanted to use stored fixed position from MyPostition menu 360, but didn't know how to select one. You just have to press * on the keypad when memory slot number is blinking, the same as with User Phrases or StatusText, in the manual it is mentioned at that part, :)

    TH-D72

Hi, how can I choose which fixed position will the radio use? I have stored 3 or 4 positions but don't know how to choose... Thanks 73 de S55DB
