Problem solved...I was about to change the if board when I saw one of the connectors slid almost al the way of a connection. I plugged it back in and bang. There was the problem. Glad it was this simple. Thanks forth suggestions guys...I owe you all one for the help.

Yea the if. Is centered. I'm leaning towards the ssb filter now but I didn't know they could just go bad. The problem is on all bands...10 meter all the way down to the bottom.

I turned my 820 on tonight and to my surprise the receive sounds garbled up and like your not really on the right frequency. Any ideas on this? This happens on all bands.

Thinking about trying one of these to run a mobile 2 meter amplifier and just have good power for my bench but was wanting to get some opinions first. Do they put out clean power for instance?

This amp only puts out about 400 with 30 watts swing in in ssb. Is this about right? I know the rated power is with about 100 watts input. Just wondering?

I'm glad to hear that you got it going again. The caps are a simple and cheap fix to restore the REAL tube sound that should be coming from all these old tubers. '73!

They should be 100uf 450 volt caps if I'm not mistaking. Don't forget to make sure you short them out before you touch anything. The high voltage inside these amps CAN KILL you. Keep us posted.
