No, you helped me understand it completely, I was lost.

I finally found it......my Washington is 8719 BOARD 5 wire plug. D 104 is 6 wire but yellow/black wire are not used. It must have a 5 pin plug to match. 4 pin plug will not work. I must have starred @ the schematic for an hour, then I saw it.

Sonoma, I really appreciate you walking me through this. I took the D104 off and put the original mic on, and no problem, so I knew there was something wrong, either the adapter or wiring. The white wire was loose in the solder joint so I redid it put in b ack on and adjusted the radio mic gain...

UPDATE!!!!!!Thanks for the input, I took the D 104 (which had a 5 to 4 wire adapter) from the radio and changed to original mic, nothing else and the squeal is gone. I noticed before that moving the mic back/forth to radio would reduce the noise. It must have something to do with the adapter or...

It's not on the chimney, it is next to garage on 40' push up and antenna is 18'6''. I think it's my D 104, I'm going to try the stock mic.

I will try the original hand mic(5 wire) and see what happens, could all be the adapter.

Uniden Washington Base with Amplified D-104 . Is it best to turn radio MIC GAIN down 1st, adjust the MIC to acceptable level, then FINE TUNE with radio mic gain ? I had it written down somewhere but don't know where. Someone said it sounded low, so I started on the MIC adjustment and forgot...
