OK, I hope I can describe this correctly, without going into all the details.
Magnum 257 HP(hard wired to battery), Sirio Megawatt 4000 with the 145 Mag mount on roof of Toyota Highlander.
SWRs very low like 1.3-1.
Antenna is located center line, but forward (short coax) and this puts it...
Hey Stellasarat, ....m42.... has a way of cutting to the point very easily, and has lead me in the right direction several times, and not even known it. He is one of the several people here that I will always read their thought's. I think we owe him a 6 Pack :thumbup1:. CD Vaughn, God Bless
Coax is to short for my install :cursing:, and I have read several post on replacing it - looks straight forward no problem,... now do I need to... figure out the Resonant Frequency of my antenna, and how do I figure that , so I can calculate the length of coax.
Sirio MegaWatt 4000...
OK ... you guys have lead me to the Sirio 5000, and I need to know what is the height from the bottom of the mag mount to the tallest part when folded down ? To know if it will clear my garage door in the folded position. I can't find any specs stating the folded height.
Also why choose...

You have just made several good points, and I will have to study up on some.
My install will be mobile, and I have a question.
As to hard wiring .... it comes with a 14 awg polarized quick disconnect, with 15 amp fuse. Now my run to the battery is a little less than 9ft, and I was...
Hi 9C1Driver,
I know for a fact that I couldn't read, or type, if I had eleven of my meds (Bud Light).
Offence was taken, I apologize, and now have forgotten.
Magnum is no longer making the 257HP, this is the Last of the Last. These are the ones that don't have jumpers.
Yes 222 has been...
Thanks again 222BDFL, I've done my share of soldering through the years, but not on circuit boards. And after the issue I ran into with that diode touching the con 2 pin, and then removing the board to look underneath, I was just concerned, it look doable to me. But if in doubt, I will ask...
Well !!
I know this .... I'm afraid you are a little ahead of yourself on this occasion. Here are the simple facts,
and I will try to keep them simple:
1. Due to availability of the last run of 257s, Copper Elect. was one of the last places to have one.
2. Copper Elect. did no work on it. By...
m42, You as usual, are Brilliant, and may have lead me in the right direction, " Just work around it." .
So .... I sat here thinking of your suggestion, "work around it", .... then it dawned on me, ... I had no idea what the underside of the board looks like.
Why can't I jump from...
Well that is an option, but not what I wanted, I can't give up yet ..... I've got to figure out my best answer to achieve my goal .... even if I have to take it on a 100 mile round trip ... to a tech. Thanks m42 for your concern.
m42 maybe I'm doing a poor job of explaining my problem, please bare with me, the jumper at con 1 is not a problem ( it might even be the answer in just a moment ) , the lead wire out of the diode from con 1 down to con 3 is short, causing the diode to rest on the con 2 pin, where I want to...
No I cant post a picture, and the leads (wires) coming out of the diode are tight, I was going to use desoldering braid to remove the first jumper, but m42
the diode is making contact with the pin.
Should I even consider trying to have a tear drop of solder fall onto the two pins, I'm afraid...
Come on Guys
I was really excited about playing with my NEW RADIO TONIGHT, .... but.... I Need Advice..... , or should I just take a few of my meds ( Bud Light ) and think about the could have been.
