When I get home from work ,heading back to the lake. This time I'm gonna try using Zote soap. Anyone tried it? I hear tell old timers used it. Last days off at the lake we had a hard time catching bait with perch traps and casting nets. So the guy in the camp next to me went to Walmart and bought some Zote soap, (pink bars) and baited out his jug lines with it, said he'd let me know how it worked. The first time with 20 jugs set out he caught 9 catfish, the second day he caught 13. So that's good enough for me to give it a shot, I'm still going to try and catch my bait, but gonna experiment with Zote soap among some other homemade daugh baits. just wondering what some others on the forum have used to catch fish.

I had a friend who passed last October that was a real commercial fisherman tell me the soap bait trick He also said back in the day when beer-soda cans had pull tab tops that they also used those as bait and caught cats, buffalo and such.

Got my perch trap baited and set out, and six bars of Zote soap. We're gonna see if it catches catfish.
Ok! I set out 9 noodles, 3 hooks a piece. 4 with Zote soap, 3 with live perch, 2 with cut shad, no we wait!
Bait, chum, up those areas with canned dog food
So far no luck with the Zote soap, they seem to prefer live perch, or cut shad. Got some hotdog concoction gonna try next, we'll see.
Given the choice of soap or cut sushi which would you choose?
I've read about chumming areas to bring em in. There's some boys that do that at lake Sardis and they slay the catfish, and that lakes better known for it's hybrid bass and crappie.
G W , I use rabbit pellets , #1 fairly cheap , # 2 my wife has a pet rabbit ! 
( So even Cheaper ) . When Salt H2O fishing for Flounder , I use a lead weighted cage ( size of Coffee can ) & give a shake once in a while , for Cat fish , I just grab a hand full & toss them in . Works for the " Stocked Trout " here also , considering that's how they are fed @ the Hatchery ( But Illegal ) . Stay Healthy & Safe ! 73 & God Bless ! leo
