I picked up a couple UV-82’s for GMRS and was wondering if anyone has tried the Nagoya NA-771 antennas, and if they had a noticeable improvement in the range and receive?
Picked this 25 Ltd classic up a couple weeks ago, already found out that the channel display has a few segments out and that the meter light is out. The bright/dim switch also doesn’t seem to work so I thought I’d open it up to see if someone had been inside and maybe wired something extra in...
Don’t worry about it, no problem at all. I hope I didn’t come off as a jerk in my reply. I was just explaining how I came up with my asking price. Maybe I’m off by a bit but as always I’m open to offers. My price was just a starting point.
Well I figure the uniden is $50 new on amazon. The antenna runs about $70 I think, plus another $30 for the mag mount. Then there’s the pa horn that is $30-$40 new. Plus the other radio would be at least $50 new. So $100 for $250 worth of equipment. I didn’t think that was too bad of a starting...
Looking to sell some radios so I can get a new scanner. I’ve got a uniden pro 520 xl, stock. A cobra ultra 18, no mike. A k40 trunk lip mount antenna with the mag mount kit. And. Pa horn for the uniden. I have a diesel power mike I’ll throw in if I can find it, I haven’t been able to find it...
I guess I mean the more structured aspect, maybe “rules” was the wrong term. CB is a little more free I guess. I also hate how a lot of people tend to look down on CB, especially because it’s what got me into radio in the first place. You can be on the air for less than $150. I have done some...
I bought a baofeng uv82 last year. I got into a tech licensing class earlier this year but I wasn’t able to attend due to some issues that popped up. Today I started taking some practice tests just to see what to expect. But honestly I’m on the fence about it when I’ve read so much negativity...
Oh ok. I just wasn’t sure how well any antenna would work, mounted in between 2 glass t-tops like that. Seems like the ground plane would be severely lacking.
I’m just curious, now that I’m learning more and more about antennas, just how effective would the bandit’s antenna set up have been? For those that don’t know or remember, that trans am had what appears to be an nmo antenna mounted between the t-tops. That doesn’t seem like it would provide...
I was going to mount a cb antenna on my toolbox, but I’ve decided to just use a scanner instead. My question is, how critical is the ground plane for a scanner antenna? I have a steel gull wing toolbox, so I have a nice square steel plate in the middle. My plan is to mount a Larsen Tri band...
Sounds like I should get it running then. Last time I hooked it up it wouldn't transmit or receive. Probably not anything major. I'll have to pick up a power cord and a. Bracket for it.
I've always read that radios built in the Philippines are a little better, and have a better sound than other radios. How true is this? I just came across a uniden pc66xl in my shop that was made in the Philippines. Just wondering if it's worth getting it repaired.
