Well I figure the uniden is $50 new on amazon. The antenna runs about $70 I think, plus another $30 for the mag mount. Then there’s the pa horn that is $30-$40 new. Plus the other radio would be at least $50 new. So $100 for $250 worth of equipment. I didn’t think that was too bad of a starting...

I've always read that radios built in the Philippines are a little better, and have a better sound than other radios. How true is this? I just came across a uniden pc66xl in my shop that was made in the Philippines. Just wondering if it's worth getting it repaired.

K40 is dead center of the roof, but it's on a mag mount. The 102 would be on the back of a toolbox. Centered of course.

Well I guess the next question I need to ask is will a 102" whip, 6" spring, ball mounted on a properly grounded tool box out perform my mag mount k40? SWR on the k40 came in at 1.1:1 on channel one and about 1.3:1 on channel 40.
