CH16 is very busy with non fishing talk. Mostly Coastguard telling people where not to go and emergency situations...
The feed I have is for personal use on where to go fishing the next day...
Scan-tenna and Radioshack 3' Tripod
RadioShack.com - Home Entertainment: Accessories: Antennas: Antenna accessories: Heavy-Duty 3-Foot Tripod Mount
30' including tripod on top of single story house. I made sure there are no electrical lines anywhere it can fall.
So how do I "guy"?
I have seen the word Trunked used a lot while looking at scanners. So a scanner that is Trunked means it can listen in on stations that a non Trunked scanner can't?
How high is too high for just a tripod bolted to the roof?
What kind of wire would I use and how do I attach it?
I am only up 30 feet rite now with a small antenna.
I trimmed it down to about 50 feet now. The cable is regular TV coax 75 OHM. Would swapping it out with a RG 58 be better for scanning 150-170 mhz channels?
The reception did improve with the shorter length.
I have excess length in my cable. Approximatly 50 yards too long. It's wound up outside. Would I get better reception if I shortened the cable?
Does it matter if the cable wraps around the mast on it's way down?
