42 years for me. I miss it nearly everyday. Thanks to Facebook, I've been able to remain in contact with a few brothers.

Marines are (were, traditionally; need to be returned as) part of the US Navy.
The service branch which operates entirely on its own, planet-wide. The single important service for this country.
When the Army is required, that means the need of a major shipping port. If by force, THAT should be the Marine specialty (the Army has done it more times). Where, IOW, the big dollar acquisitions need to be made.
The combined arms carriers in use can’t get closer than 50-miles. That’s not amphibious warfare.
Berger’s latest is in casting around for a job description. (Fail).
In the same vein, the USAF as a separate branch never really worked. USAAF, again.
Two services with auxiliaries is easier with which to strategize.
As getting rid of generals & admirals is also high priority, incentives need to be clarified.

The entirety of US military power is now a welfare scam for the enlisted; SF is off the books and unaccountable; the officer class is derelict.
Maybe secret Stars Wars weapons (see USN patents on fusion and electro-gravitics since last year) and the Space Command are “the future”.
If so we’ve been getting screwed even worse than we thought per the monies spent.
The symbolic loss of the Marines is what really hurts.

Sex was already a problem. That order only worsened it. Admitting women was the fundamental error (enemy action).
Women haven’t any place in any service past what worked in WWII. Once that ban was lifted, the rest could be foretold.
Agreed the corpse has been rotting a long time.
It’s been forty years since I graduated college. Would I feel sad about that university today sinking? It long ago abandoned its values & scholarship in favor of lies.

And I should say...I'm very biased in discussions about women Marines because my wife is a 20 year Marine Vet. She'll always be in my opinion, as good or better than any. A stone-face killer when she needed to be, and still a loving Mom and faithful wife at home.
