Do you prefer CB, export, or HF rigs for 11 meter?
I, myself, have decided on an HF rig for SSB (what they're designed for), and an export for AM....!
What is everyone else's thoughts and opinions here?

I also have a ham setup and the PR-40 mic by Heil, but I have heard excellent sound coming from those peak, tuned, and aligned rigs, that use the D-104 hand mic!
I have decided on one for myself, and my new Connex. Can't wait to get it!

wow, is there a new galaxy coming out sometime soon?
i really have decided to go with the 4300-300 because of the output and front mic.... but i'd like to read more about the new galaxy (if there is one)?

somewhere in here i said i was not going to use the slip seat except in a fixed area in my home. it will head to the jeep each time i transport it somewhere, but will not be hooked up in the vehicle. i have an astron 70 amp power supply for the home, which is the only place it will be...
I've read something about some issues with echo/talk back here on the forum, but I figure they have been "fixed"?
What exactly do I want to look out for?
I'm also thinking about getting the roger beep module installed.
Thanks,

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the great responses so far! I have decided to go with the Connex 4300-300 for two reasons, for which I will state - because you never know who may be helped by all of this. :)
One. Because I have a slip seat (and I have to be able to mount a radio that's mic...
The 4300-300 is a cinch as I do have a great SSB radio, but where do I get the new transistors and or finals installed on the Connex, (to make it do 500+ watts of course)?
Snake Eyes
I see the squelch and have updated my post (thanks Booty Monster)!
I don't want to have to run a linear bigger than the 400-450 watt output of the Connex, and am in an HOA area. I also have a Kenwood radio for sideband.
So, that kind of brings me to my next question:
What about having...
I've now decided to go with an export radio for local talking. It would seem that one of the exports like the Connex 4300-300 (for instance), might do the trick since I enjoy mostly AM communications.
Please check out the thread if you have any information that may be of help to me or...
I've since decided to go with an export radio for my local talking. I posted a thread in the export radio section asking for assistance there - if anyone may be able to help! :)
Thanks for all the great replies!

I like the 4300-300.
Also, I am fond of the 98VHP and the 63FFC2.
While my mind is almost made up (not quite), perhaps you can help me or someone else, make a decision on one of these high powered radios.
Thanks,
Snake Eyes
Yeah, I may hold on to the Kenwood lol, for a few more days before unloading it to you :) - which brings me to the Ameritron amps you've mentioned.
There is the Ameritron 600 watt solid state and 800 watt tube amplifiers that I have spent some time looking at.
Only thing is with one of...
With these amateur radios (the true ones), things seem to be complicated in terms of hooking an amp up to them.
So, i need some advice regarding amp selection for my TS-2000 specifically.
I talk mostly on AM, but wouldn't mind the option of SSB power.
Outside of that, I am OPEN...
For the KLV-1000/P, I see that you can use the Svetlana
EL509-SV / 6KG6, Russian Tubes.
I read somewhere on eHam.net, that the Russian Svetlana's are bigger than the American ones!
Is there anything special you have to do to the inside of the amp to make these tubes "fit"?
Also, is...
Okay, I'm attempting to get on the same page with all the amp owners out there, so wish me luck!! :)
I have a radio that puts out 5-25 watts on AM/FM, and 5-100 watts on SSB (factory specs).
I would like to find a base amp (no mobiles at this time), that will put out at least 150 watts on...
Been reading the various threads about using these amps on AM. Well, if i am driving one of these units with 20 watts on AM, what can I expect in terms of tube life and overall performance (11 meter plus 160m-10m)?
Also, driving one of these with 80 watts on SSB, what might I expect there...
