How can u protect your radio system from a solar storm. Would we really know when one is coming. I know we get warnings from ARRL and NOAA, but I would like to be more prepared. Can you put something in-line, like a surge protect or something. How exactly dose a solar storm attack your radio...

Let me ask one more question on this. Dose the length of the coax cable make any difference or dose the antenna need to be close to the radio's location as passable.

WOW!!!! Ha,Ha. I'm glad i asked. I have satellite TV and only use the TV antenna for local news. The pole has excellent grounding. I guess ill just put me up another pole for the dual band. Thats the mean one anyway.
okay, Lets throw the CB antenna out of the mix for now and leave the TV antenna on the very top where it is right now. After all, my TV signal comes from 90 mile's away and its the old analog kind. Have to get the new converter that go's inside for digital signal. And put the dual band just...
I have a 35' pole that I plan on putting a dual band 2m/70cm antenna on the very top, a CB antenna just below that off to the side about 4", and my TV antenna lower then that. My ? is, will these three antenna's interfere with each other being on the same pole. :confused1:

Iv been saving a little more money and now im looking at the ICOM 91-AD. But other club members around here say that im not even going to be able to hit the repeater with it. That I can receive but not transmit. Should I save my money and get something like the FT-897D or other Mobile base...
Thanks everyone for your guidance. I figured if the Hwy. Dept. can have a 200' tall tower just two blocks from me. Then a 30' or even a 50' antenna will be OK. :laugh:
In the small town we live in, there is a small airport that is only used for small planes. Three of four I think. Is there a nataniel or state standard on the hight or dose it depend on the airport. I think the county takes care of it. Who exactly do I ask.
