what would be better for a low height install on my garage? 1/2 wave or 5/8 wave? If I remember reading correctly, a half wave will work better than a 5/8 at a low height because it has a higher take off angle to get the signal out?
I have both antennas and want to put the best up.
Can anyone tell me the adjustment for power on this radio? I want to turn it down and cant find any info on the powe,r just channel and audio mods. Thanks for any info guys.

i have a 29 ltd classic that someone gave me that has D11 cut AND TR 18 cut out.
after some research i found out that people claim removing TR 18 further boosts the audio. i would never do this. and the radio has a bad sound to it. (go figure), does anyone know if just resoldering D11 back...
I have 2 identical radios (87 GTL's) on receive i get the same signal from people but on one radio i get 1 s unit of noise and on the other i get 3-4.
can anything be done to quiet the other one own?

I have NEVER grounded any of my base antennas. I have always had quality aluminum ground planes and have talked all over the world. Always had good swr and never had noise issues. what am i missing by not being grounded?

glad i kept an old car battery lying around. power went out the other night.

my wilson 1000 is too darn tall on the roof of my Silverado! it is constantly banging on trees in my neighborhood and even got knocked down today by a low hanging branch. i was thinking, what if i bent a Z shape into it about half way up to make it shorter? i wonder how this would affect it?
If anyone can look at a schematic (if you have or can find one) for this radio and give me an idea here I would appreciate it. the radio has a xmit and receive light. when it is receiving, the xmit light is still slightly lit. when i key up the RX light does go out completley and the TX light...
