In this application with the low drive available, radios do better with the MRF455 or believe it or not, the real Toshiba 2SC2879. Both of these parts have a gain of 13db while the 2SC2290 comes in at 11.8. The original final these boards were trying to replace was the extinct MRF477 and it had a gain of 15db.Looks like you could drop one of these in let's say a galaxy 33hp2, general lee, or connex 3300 and essentially have a connex 4300. I'm curious to see how it'll do with a real Toshiba 2290! Found that trick out when they came out with the MRF492A. It's got one more db than the 1446 and that single hole mount was convenient on the back of radios that didn't work the part hard enough to overheat it.Should rock and roll with a SD1446, a 50 MHz part used at 27. Plenty of gain.
