Both will allow you to talk further than you can hear with a mobile antenna. Thus the extra wattage is a waste of money and just creates more QRM on the band.

that might be how it would work in a 4 watt world, but it isn't. so he's broadcasting farther than he can hear. so is the other guy using their amp. so while he couldn't hear the person that's hearing him if they were running 4 watts, since they also are broadcasting farther than they can hear, they can hear.Space cowboy, what part of that post is incorrect? Just interested to know, perhaps you can share some of your knowledge

Another major solar flare, but this time from an active region just beginning to turn into view off the east limb. It is possible that the group responsible is old AR 3654 from the previous rotation. The latest flare, an X2.99 event just peaked at 14:38 UTC (May 15). Stay tuned |
