If you have room, you can put up a G5RV (or similar) wire antenna for a small investment. <$100. Having been there done that, I'd recommend saving a little more money and getting a solid state easy to use radio to start. I got burned real bad buying radios that are complicated to operate and not...
Can anyone here recommend a good repair place for an FT-301? I don't think it has too many problems. It just seems off frequency and can use a good tune up. It hasn't been on the air for many years.
Thanks

I recently became a General" hamster and now I have the common tinkeritis that comes with it. Apparently Heil used to have a kit available to convert a D-104 to the famous Heil sound. I have an Icom IC-718 and I want to run the beautiful D-104 on it, but I also want to have it sound the best it...
I acquired an SWR/Power/Tuner recently. I can't find any manuals or instructions on how to use the tuner. I know how to check SWR and Power. It is a Barjan 300-PDC5. Astatic made a PDC5 and the Truckers Series RPSWR-4 all appear to be the same. Can anyone tell me how to use the antenna tuner...
I scored an old Skipper 300 last week. It seems to work just fine except when I first powered it up the fan was very hard to turn and wouldn't run on it's own. I spun it by hand for a few minutes and it finally started working. Is there any way to lube the fan shaft or am I better off to just...
10 DA
I got an element from RBMicro.com. I had to bypass the coil that was embedded in the back of the 10DA head and wired the RBMicro element directly to the amplified base. I have asked for several operators opinions and the RBMicro element has the best quality modulation of all the mics I...
WA7TGT, WWDX 1279 (The Old Trapper), Icom 718 to G5RV (BWK version), Texas Ranger 696SSB base, Yaesu FT-301, IMAX 2000 base cb antenna. Galaxy 94HP mobile with a Wilson 2000 mobile antenna.
I bought a D104 un-amplified G stand mic on ebay. It has a 3 conductor cord: Red, Black, Shield. When I took off the bottom plate, some of the wires were un-soldered. I want to wire this for a Yaesu 101EE. I have heard that radio does better without an amplified mic. Can anyone help me with...
A friend knows a friend who has an amp in his truck that is sooooo powerful that if he turns it on high, all the radios in a 5 mile radius burn up. hahahaha LOL!
10 DA
I tried to rewire the mic and the tiny copper wires coming from the mic element have been ruined. I guess I'll have to chuck it and try to find another element or another complete head. I know - lots-a-luck there, huh?
I need a mic element for an Astatic 10 DA head. (The small around one). I have the head but the element was ruined by somebody trying to modify it. You can email me direct at: tt.thetrapper@gmail.com
