Shakin out the cobwebs in the old melon, I think the Cobra HH 45WX is identical to the Midland 75-820. If I were to get another 11 meter HH, it would be a Magnum 1012 10 meter SSB HH and do the mod to get 11 meters.

Some of the earlier 822's could be expanded, IIRC, midland rewrote the CPU so that the out of band operation was eliminated on new ones. Some one correct me if I am wrong.
I had a 75-820 that I was able to expand, took some heating, scraping, and cleaning off of some sort of epoxy to get to...
Got mine yesterday from 409 shop (dot) com. Took 2 weeks from payment to delivery. Not too bad coming from Hong Kong.
I like the feel of the UV-B5, fits better in my hand than my UV-5R+. I was able to store a local 2meter freq with offset & PL tone easier in the UV-B5 than the UV-5R+. I'm...
A real deal maker for me would be if it had a pre-wired counter jack, like a DX959 or DX979. As the new/old/reborn Jackson stands, having to refer to maps to figure out where you are is a deal breaker for me. BUT I'm ever so tempted. I cannot remember the last time I bought a NIB, 1st owner...
Yes, you are correct, I have 2 already, but they're less expensive (polite way of saying they're cheap doo-doo...) and they sound like crap. I just want to experiment and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the input though
Where I live, I cannot have an external antenna nor do I wish to tx anymore than 5w. I can hit my local repeater pretty well, but with only 50% power due to only having the rubber (mud) duck antenna. I'm going to build a dipole/J-pole/etc to put up in my attic and have a "base station" where I'd...
That's the spec I got from Baoufeng's web site, perhaps chinglish strikes again. I was a mere passing thought today while eating burritos for lunch. Thanks for the comeback
Greg
I've got a UV-5R and am curious to know if it might be practical to wire up, say an old CB mic I've got laying around to the Baoufeng. I think that the mic impedance of the H/T is significantly lower than the CB mic. The radio I believe is less then 5 ohms, maybe less than 3? And a CB mic is...
HAPPY NEW YEAR!! UV5R PLUS (latest vers.)
So, I'm a wanna be ham, taken many practice exams for my Tech ticket and have been in touch with a VE to take the real one in a week-10 days. I've done lots of research into this radio and feel that if I can work out the quirks and use either CHIRP or...
Welcome!! I'll throw in my 2¢ here. I live in a condo/townhouse complex where even satellite dishes are banned!! So, I built a dipole that I've strung horizontally in my attic space about the garage. It does pretty well locally, 3-4 mile tops on AM, but when skip is rolling in, I can make...
I've got a nice Pro 43 HH scanner ( I know, analog...) but I live in an area that has few trunking or digital APCO systems. My Pro 43 been showing it's age lately. Has anyone experienced failing CAPS in their older 43's? Specifically, my squelch has been opening up and giving me static where a...
HHHHMMMM, seems to be a motivated seller, was 179, then 149, now 119. I asked the seller if he/she would do a local-pickup, no response. Wonder if there's anything wrong with it.
Seems he/she revised the listing, now it's a regular 2950 USED, and not at a bad price, if didn't have my 2510, I'd buy/bid on it.....good to see an honest seller fix his/her mistake.

WOW  I thought I had a problem when I bought a 2nd +3 and all it does is sit. I use a +2ssb on my TRC457 and the +3 on my HR2510. I also picked up for little $$ a Sears Turner +3 clone base mic. One of these day I'm going to open up the Sears and see if the circuits are the same or...
