Had a bit of a scare the other night, yakking on 75m running about 1400 watts with the Commander HF-2500 and saw a flash out the corner of my eye and the amp kicked out. Reset it and my Grid current was CRAZY and as soon as I transmitted it spiked and kicked out.
Well now I am thinking a...
Well I am on my Backup rig for a while, since the IC-9100 had to make a trip back to Icom.
I hate having lousy audio so I picked up a MD-100 mic and the radio had a 2.3 filter in it. So it didnt sound bad. The next logical step was an INRAD 726 filter which gives you 2.9 Hz in SSB. Now it...
I have been very successful connecting the repeater to the club X Reflector. I just updated my repeater using a BeagleBone Black Computer. Its running Debian Linux on its internal 2 gig Memory. This is a much more robust setup than the original Raspberry Pi and much more stable.
Feel free to...
The KC1ACI Repeater is now in operation. Located in Central Massachusetts. I have done some link testing with the W9WDX Repeater and we are in business. D Star of course.
Lets get this party started !!
Do we have enough members using D-Star to try and set up a NET ?
I Know Mole is working hard at getting a reflector set up, and already has an operational Repeater. I also have an operational repeater and have been able to link into the W9WDX repeater.
Any interest ??

Has anyone ever used the Elecraft XV144 2m Transverter ?? I am thinking of getting one so I can do satellite operations on my Flex 5000. Flex has discontinued the VU5K module, but it was like $1300. I already have a UHF down converter that works awesome, just need the 2m transverter to get it...
I am finding all kinds of really cool options on my Flex 5000, here is a short YouTube on setting up for SO2R ( Single Operator 2 Radio ).
If there are any other things you would like to see about the flex, let me know and I will attempt another screen capture video. This one is my first...
I have been running Flex Radios for a while now and really love it, especially since I just upgraded to the Flex 5000 and added the 2nd receiver.
Using a mouse and keyboard can be a pain at times and I came across this site recently PowerSDR with an improved User Interface (knobs & buttons) |...
Flex 5000 and Smooth Audio with Rack Gear
I just upgraded from a Flex SDR-1000 to the Flex 5000A and it was probably the best upgrade I have ever done. The abundance of new options on the 5000 over the 1000 is amazing.
I am somewhat of an audiophile and have a complete audio rack system...
Ok a few poeople suggested I try and do a live video demo of the Flex 5000. I will post a link for the live stream as soon as I set the account up and we can give it a try.
Maybe we can do it Saturday at 12 Noon EST, that might give aeveryone a time to shoot for. Livestream will also save a...
Just an idea, but you could possibly do a livestream of any nets for the guys who cant get in due to propagation. I have been playing around with Livestream for some of my satellite work and it does a pretty decent job.
Well I just couldn't help myself and got a Great deal on a 1 yr old Flex 5000. The 5000 has a lot of Great improvements over my old SDR-1000 and is just amazing on the receiver.
Anyway the madness continues :D
The RS01S ARRISAT-1 is suppose to burn up some time tomorrow, if you would like to see a live broadcast of a pass today at 1610 EST go to w1msg - live streaming video powered by Livestream I will be broadcasting this pass. It will be a 63 degree elevation pass and should be pretty good.

TS-2000 users have a reason to rejoice, even though the AO-51 Satellite is gone you can in fact work the other FM Satellites that fall within the dreaded Kenwood Birdie frequency range by adding a High Sierra Microwave 435M7-BFBF down converter.
Some of the other TS-2000 users have been using...
I am selling my 1 yr old Gulf Alpha Dualband Satellite antenna. This antenna is 100% and does a great job for those looking to be able to make those satellite contacts from the comfort of your shack. It has a mounting plate with an extra set of holes for a fixed 15 degree mount if you dont have...
Ok so it was time to upgrade to the circular polarized beams for Satellite work. I ordered the 5 Element 2m and the 8 element 70cm. The build up was pretty easy, took about an hour and a half each to get them assembled. There are no instructions so you need to go by the pictures on the web site...
Just thought I would make a post about power addiction. I hope some of you will share your experiences as well.
I upgraded my license August 2010 to General and discovered the world of HF, as I was making contacts with 100 watts I ran into the problem of not being able to work all the...
I think this must be a sickness, or at least an obsession. I was at the Nearfest this weekend in Deerfield NH and I saw 3 beautiful Commander amps on a table. There was a 6M and a HF2500 then the Mac Daddy HF-3500. They all were in pristine condition and that HF-2500 kept calling my name all...
