I have tried different mounting accessories, and have been sure to preserve the integrity of the plastic ring on the 3 way antenna mounts, but nothing has worked as far as getting my SWR's down to a respectable level (less than 1:3:1 has been unachievable for more than 20 minutes).
I have...
I have had in my possession for about a week now, a Bob's CB 2995 DX.
He did it all to my rig, and he did it well.
I am using a D-104 Final Edition lollipop mic with the radio, and have the mic itself turned all the way up.
The radio's mic gain is turned about 1/4 of the way up.
The...
reading between the lines of the Daiwa CN-101L eham review, I felt it was a winner......so, for me (at least), I found a great SWR/Power Meter, despite some negative reviews on eham.
I have mine on an antenna tripod sitting on the floor of my walk in closet, extending to the top of my attic.
There is less than 3-4 inches clearance, and I get out +/- 30 miles locally.
Skip is not a problem.
My local cb friends give me a non-stop hard time about this setup, and all I...
Many people seem to like the Ranger 2970 DX, and so I decided on a Ranger 2995 DX as I will be operating indoors.
I would have gone with a Galaxy Saturn Turbo, but they don't make them any more, and you really don't know whose hands have been in them (when it comes to ordering them on ebay)...
Okay.... where can I look to find info. on whether it is best to purchase a base or mobile for a base operation (I know a lot of it must be preference). I have a 57 amp power supply, and it is down to the galaxy 98vhp (mobile) or base (ranger 2995 dx).
Just want to make the most informed...
This ought to be fun!
A local cb friend may want to buy one of these, but is unsure as to where the best place is.
I told them I'd help them.
Whatta nice guy I am!!

Well, I got this thing from Copper today.
RF Power is completely turned down with stock mic, and the mic gain on the radio is at 12 o'clock.
...It works like a champ (so far)!
The only thing I haven't tested on it is the echo, which I will get to soon enough.
I ordered a D-104 hand...
Do you prefer CB, export, or HF rigs for 11 meter?
I, myself, have decided on an HF rig for SSB (what they're designed for), and an export for AM....!
What is everyone else's thoughts and opinions here?

I also have a ham setup and the PR-40 mic by Heil, but I have heard excellent sound coming from those peak, tuned, and aligned rigs, that use the D-104 hand mic!
I have decided on one for myself, and my new Connex. Can't wait to get it!

I like the 4300-300.
Also, I am fond of the 98VHP and the 63FFC2.
While my mind is almost made up (not quite), perhaps you can help me or someone else, make a decision on one of these high powered radios.
Thanks,

With these amateur radios (the true ones), things seem to be complicated in terms of hooking an amp up to them.
So, i need some advice regarding amp selection for my TS-2000 specifically.
I talk mostly on AM, but wouldn't mind the option of SSB power.
Outside of that, I am OPEN...
For the KLV-1000/P, I see that you can use the Svetlana
EL509-SV / 6KG6, Russian Tubes.
I read somewhere on eHam.net, that the Russian Svetlana's are bigger than the American ones!
Is there anything special you have to do to the inside of the amp to make these tubes "fit"?
Also, is...
Okay, I'm attempting to get on the same page with all the amp owners out there, so wish me luck!! :)
I have a radio that puts out 5-25 watts on AM/FM, and 5-100 watts on SSB (factory specs).
I would like to find a base amp (no mobiles at this time), that will put out at least 150 watts on...
Been reading the various threads about using these amps on AM. Well, if i am driving one of these units with 20 watts on AM, what can I expect in terms of tube life and overall performance (11 meter plus 160m-10m)?
Also, driving one of these with 80 watts on SSB, what might I expect there...
