Do I own the only Galaxy DX55 HP

I don't know of many that ever took the leap and bought a DX55V either. Sure, they were out there; but not in the numbers as some of the other models. Within the last 24 mo., there have been less expensive radios with more features for the 55HP to compete against.

Sparky built 100 watt cobra 25.

AL (Sparky) does decent tune-up work generally included in a competative purchase price. Unlike some internet shops that would have you believing they offer several levels of peak & tune worth upwards of $40 above what the radio sells for. Anytime I have spoken to him on the phone, his answers...

    Davy Jones- The Monkees

Listened to a radio interview with him a few years ago and he was three sheets to the wind at the time. Might be something to think about prior to a family visit. Then again maybe it was just a fluke.

Sparky CB Shack turning into Jerk...

Perhaps you could be more specific in your accusation Undertaker. I watch a good many forums and have yet to observe a high incidence of displeased purchasers on Sparky's forum. There does appear a rash of people displeased with him not responding to a posting or email sent every time they can...

    powerband rfx 75

....The best solution would be to have the mechanic run a heavier wire direct from one of your batteries. The second best solution would be to disconnest the lighter terminals from the socket and run something like a TP-2 connection from them direct to your radio, that may or mat not help. While...

    2sc1969 vs 2sc2312

You're DX88 currently has 2078s? Were these replacements? Once had a tech look in my radio (that wasn't bought from him) and remark that it had 2312s which to him indicated the manufactorer used a better quality of components when building the radio. He stated individually the 2312...

    Astatic Echo Board

Have used an earlier version of this board and the current? version. The early version incorporated less SMT and required the source voltage to be regulated @ around 8-9 Vdc. Both came with the knobs and angle mounts. My opinion is the newer version does not produce as rich of an echo as the...

More and more CB radios turning up at hamfeast.

Dude.....with all that CB stuff present, I would think it helps to keep the rift raft from crowding the tables of "true communications equiptment" you're interested in.

    powerband rfx 75

My understanding from talking to Sparky is you will not gain full potential from this radio without replacing C42. In this converstation, he stressed using a 3300uF with proper voltage rating. While this isn't first hand experience, I would take that to mean a 6.3v will not work satisifactory...

    Cobra 25GTL

The 21GTL uses a similar diode in that location also. Unfortunately since the hacking on CBTricks the schematic is not available for viewing. The only print I can see on the diode in mine is K2. I'm not well versed in diodes, was/is a 1N4002 heavy enough?

Cobra 29 LTD Variable Power Mod

My understanding is yes when adding the variable pot (RF gain) to the circuit, one could draw the Dk down to zilch. However at the other end of the pot range you would have no resistance and effectively be bypassing the 33 ohm resistor to produce a range of zero Dk up to full power. Here is...

UNIDEN PRO 810E VARIABLE POWER MOD

Perform an internet search for Plowboy's variable power modifications*, apply the diagrams and instructions he provides to the schematic of the Uniden Pro 810 that can be found at CB Tricks. *Then again, I've never seen this radio and maybe it uses something like an MRF 477 high drive final...

    Computer speakers..

Well if it plugs into the wall, then it will be an amplified speaker, stereo to boot, which means it'll have a stereo plug which you may or may not get to work as it'll have more conductors on it than you need or want. I have clipped the slave speaker out of one of these and attached an 1/8"...

    Magnum Radios... anygood?

On the other side of that coin, I wouldn't give you the time of day for either a Mini or a Millinium and if someone came at me offering any Magnum with Nitro Knobs I'd run untill I had a heart attack. I get enough interference in my mobile installation already from trailer cords and clearance...

    nice looking stinger board

At this point in time, think I've concluded whomever was bringing this to market has chosen otherwise. As there have been many inquiries across many forums for many monthes without published results. Not sure that I see the same spurious RF issues that others here do with an install of this...

    Loudest Export radio out today?

Seven pages of opinion on this topic in over a year's time. Say what you will, but apparently this topic is important to many or maybe it's just a topic that many believe their opinion is the right one. By the way I don't mean to hurt no feelings here...but my Northstar mobile is the loudest...

    Midland 79-290

I've had one of those along with a 77-285A and while I occasionally wax fondly as though I miss them...I also seem to recall both had terrible signal rejection when it came to recieve. Both are/ were SMT construction which greatly inhibited circuit modification. I wish you well in your endevour...
